It came on a 315 yard par 4. Playing uphill, 5-10 mph wind in my face. The drive was down the right side about 225 yards. Left me with about 90 yards to go. Approach shot was from sidehill lie, ball about 1 ft above my feet. Played a knockdown pw. Ball came out low and to the right, hooked left about 5 yards. Hit the green left and short, but released nicely to about 10 feet from the pin. Putt was downhill, left to right. Started out about 2 feet left and curled in beautifully.
As you can tell, a moment that wont be forgotten soon. I was so excited, I could not believe that fireworks did not go off or something of that sort. I had played about 8 rds with a lot of practice in between before I was able to do this.
So, how long did it take you to get your first birdie? And can you remember it so vividly?

Congratulations!

I got my first birdie relatively quickly by pitching in on a par 3. It wasn't until about a month or so on a par 5 when I picked up another. It was about 9 calendar years in between, maybe 2 years of active playing time, and probably 12-15 18-hole round equivalents (since I mostly play 9 at a time). It's going to start happening more, though---I'm finding myself with a lot more birdie chips and the occasional look at a birdie putt, so I'm closing in on the greens faster.

I've been playing too long to remember, but congrats on yours, 14!

Congrats!

My first ever came during my sophomore or junior year in high school. We were playing in a school match and my tee shot to an island green (surrounded by sand instead of water) landed well short and in the trap. The green was a good 8 feet above where my ball was. I absolutely skulled my wedge out of the bunker, it hit the rough and hopped on to the green... it was still flying and I figured it was going to fly off the other side and into the bunker again. Instead, I heard it slam into the pin and then the other 3 guys I was playing with yelled that it went in. I ran up the mound and saw my ball lodged between the side of the hole and the pin. I don't remember when my next birdie was, but... I'll always remember that one.

Congrats, and here's to many more. Mine was many moons ago...Uphill Par 4...double breaking putt...went in the side door

Congratulations!

My first birdie was on a long par 4 and I just "gripped and ripped" and 5 wood for my approach. Luck more that anything put me in position for a nice short putt and I birdied. Wasn't very memorable since I was just going for it with a club that always gave me a 40 yard radious of " who knows where it will land."

Since then I've scored a number of birdies on par 3s and par 5s.

It's my first (and only) Eagle I won't soon forget. It won't be long for you and it will be the same. Birdies won't be too uncommon for you and you'll get yourself an Eagle and have this same feeling all over again!

Congrats!

Oh yes, I can!

My first 9-hole round ever. Played with a friend of mine with hcp 17. First hole is 320m par4, slight dogleg to left, green sideways to the fairway with a bunker in front. Drived off with 3W and approached with some iron (cannot recall which) onto the green. Putt was about 3m. Great start for a round! Well, final result for a 9-hole round of par 35 was 64 but it was an immemorial 9 holes!

CONGRATS!!!!

My first was late in my first year of playing. Probably 20-30 rounds under my belt. It was a shot par 3. 8 iron off the tee to about a foot. It was nearly an ACE. Also happens to be the closest I've ever been to a hole-in-one. I remember it like it was yesterday (it was actually about 5 years ago).

Nice, now you can hunt down that first eagle. Can't remember my first birdie unfortunately because I was roughly 10 years old at the time and didn't realize that it is a pretty cool milestone. First eagle was when I was 13 and I do remember that thankfully!

Something makes me think the eagle will be a little longer coming. I struggle with my longer clubs off the deck, so the closest I have been on a par 5 after 2 is about 50 yards. My home course has a 480 yard par 5 that plays downhill. If I hit a good drive (not average), because it is downhill, I can be around 220 to 210 away. I battle with distances like this tho. Usually on a par 5 I will try to lay up to 120 yards. I am still looking for consistency with my irons, so I dont practice the longer clubs much.

Congrats! I still remember mine last may. It was a 168 par 3. Being that I was new to the game, I used a 5 hybrid 26* and literally skulled it to the pin. Leaving me with only a 8 in putt. LOL. My buddies said if I made that in, they would've quit.

Not my first but, the most memorable one for me was a par 3 150 yard shot over water to a green with water along its front and right side, a stream / wetlands to the back and bunkers on the left. The tee shot ended up about a foot and a half from the hole after a short roll.
I think that's the closest I'll ever get to a hole in one. LOL

Congrats on yours.

congrats... i don't remember my first birdie, but i remember my first eagle. i was 14 and had just learnt how to use my shiny new 3 wood. it was a straight par 5 about 500+/- yards. i hit a drive that went about 250, pulled out my 3 wood and hit a low shot that rolled 50 yards right up onto the green. thankfully that day's pin placement was in the front, leaving me a 3 foot putt for eagle. funny though, i can't remember my last eagle.

Congrats! Still seeking my first birdie. It's always great to hear about others finally getting one.

Congratulations... I think for the most part you always remember your first birdie

Mine was at the 3rd hole at Glen Abbey Golf Club, (home of the PGA Tour's Canadian Open) a medium length par 3 over water. I don't remember what club I hit, but I had a downhill 12 footer or so and gleefully watched it roll straight into the cup. I still remember who my playing partner was. I was 16, and had only been playing a couple of months.

Edited to add... and it was a Titleist Bulls Eye putter no less
