I echo Steve Elkington as the swing model. I've hit balls next to Steve, and when you see what he does up close, it is even more impressive. I never understood why he did not dominate but that shows us all that golf is a lot more than prefectly struck shots on the range. Now, a dozen or more years later I see him on TV, and he is still impressive, but not quite the same on the screen as he was much younger and up close. His swing was truly graceful -- the most natural explosion of power I had ever seen.

Tom Purtzer is always the classic favorite and I understand why, but Elkington's swing is the one I dream about.

I have read and strongly believe one should only emulate a pro swing if you have the same body type (height, weight) and grip type.

Harvey Penick believed and wrote the same.

Hands down Jim Furyk

Or Kenny Perry

Most likely Freddie Jacobson. I've always had that little swing and sway that he has. It works for him and me. I love his aggressiveness through his follow through. I have the same sort of thing. So I guess I already have his swing

Freddie would be a nightmare to copy technically but his tempo is butter. There are few swings that look as fluid and easy as Couples. His transition looks so effortless.

Yeah I agree with you. I'd kill for his swing though.

You beat me to it!!!

I totally agree with this. It just looks so effortless. Looks very close to one-plane, and it looks almost effortless. Everytime that annoying Dymo Str8-Fit commercial comes on, I have to watch it, just because of his swing. It's wierd though, because my 2nd favorite swing is probably Tiger's, but his doesnt seem to be anywhere near as effortless. I feel like they're two opposite ends of the spectrum.

I think Fredrik Jacobson's never-let-the club-release-higher-than-your-waist followthrough is really cool, but I wouldn't be able to hit a 7-iron more than 100 yards if I tried it.

The pros whose swings I try the most to emulate are Anthony Kim and Luke Donald. Those attempts usually end in spectacular failure, mind you.

I'm 6' 2" (6' 1.75"). I always liked Bob Tway, Greg Norman, Seve, Olazabal, Els, Nick Price, Tom Watson (not tall, but good), and now Padraig.
