You should all save your money and invest it in your swing. That's what is going to make a difference... the improvements in the past 2-3 years dont warrant 500$. The most you will g t out of it is 5-10 yards. That is not going to shave 5 strokes off your game; working on your swing with someone who knows what they are doing, might.

There are alot of guys like me who just like the certain look of a driver at address, or the feel of a driver....... Its not always about distance. :)

When I get tired of it. That seems to translate to 1.5 years. I like my shaft now but the head is too damned noisy. I am looking for a new head...if I like it, I'd keep it for a while I suppose.

I'm still using my 2002 Titleist 975J...

... but really getting the itch to replace it. Had a driver fitting the other day, but didn't pull the trigger.

So far, never. I've had my Cobra Speed something for 3 years, which is the time I've been playing golf. Except the sound, I really like the club. If I hit it poorly, it's because of my swing, not teh club.

So you break the shaft or something since you have to buy new ones all the time?

hmm...i find it hard to believe that you really go through 3-4 drivers a year.

During my high school days, I was at the range everyday, Monday-Sunday, for 3-4 hours, or I was playing 9 holes at my home course. With a swing speed of 118, I've never had to replace my driver due to damages caused by a lot of use. Only time was when my shaft broke from me hitting a driver extremely fat.

983K from 2006, love it...Its been regripped 6 times and re-shafted twice...but..when the 910's come out I hope to get a 909D2 on sale @ $100. Some folks have told me to hold on to the 983K...its one of the best feeling drivers ever. But hitting a friends 909 the ball definitely comes off "hotter". Never played a full round with one to measure apples to apples but I would guess the new technology is good for 3-5%.

I changed driver about a month ago to the one in my sig. Main reason was that I was using a beginner set's driver so the shaft was too whippy. It was pointless for me to keep a 20$ heas while putting a 100$ shaft in it.
Now that I have a proper driver, I expect to keep it for at least a couple of years seeing that I have a killer head/shaft combo. Another reason is that there's no way my parents will fund a new driver after I just spent 220$ on the current one (100$ upcharge for the Matrix Ozik X-Con 6 shaft)

The G10 may change that - have you looked at your clubface lately? It sure isn't as rugged as my older Callaways!!

My last driver was a Taylormade Burner 300 or 320 cc of about 2000 with a Bubble shaft, I didn't play that often, but when hit at the sweetspot it went all the way. When I started again last summer I got a Wilson Spine 460 cc...... impossible to miss the ball with, but "stupid" sound, changed it for a TM Burner 2008 and soon after for a 907 D2 ..... which I liked very much, but replaced it for a 909 D2 which I am using for about 3 months now..... I really like this one (had some doubts on changing to a 909 D3). Now I am getting used to the 909D2 ..... I feel it will stay in the bag for some years !

Uh no, I broke one shaft this year, I replace drivers when they don't feel right to me, which is usually 4 months of use, they may or may not need to be replaced from a mechanical point of view, but I do it anyway

i get where your coming from cuz i do the same thing but do you buy the same model over and over (thats what i do) or do you buy different set ups every few months
