During the weather delay today, they had some footage of the players warming up on the range before the re-start -- I noticed that Overton was talking on his cell phone.

So, my quesiton is this -- could he have been legally speaking with his swing coach? I believe you can only get advice from your caddie mid-round -- does this apply during weather delays? I can't imagine it would, but thought I would ask if anyone knows for certain.

Decision 8-1/20 seems to apply:

Q. A is about to play the 6th hole, a par-3, when play is suspended by the Committee. Prior to the resumption of play, A asks X, who had already played the 6th, what club he used for his tee shot. Is A penalized under Rule 8-1? A. No. The prohibition against giving or asking for advice applies only during a stipulated round. In this case, the stipulated round had been suspended.

Speaking of Jeff Overton, what do you think of him?

I'm not a big fan...(but this is an opinion that was formed watching him only on t.v., not knowing him personally.) Every time his missed a putt during Saturday's round he appeared to be whining and cussing. It was the same during the last two times he was featured prominently in the t.v. coverage. I don't know, I'm sure I'm reading more into this than normal, but I just did not want to see him win because of it. Has anyone's attitude ever bothered you by just viewing someone's behavior while watching them during t.v. coverage? If so, example?? There's no doubt he's a great golfer, he always seems to be "in the mix", but I think if he changed his on course behavior he might actually win a tourney this year.

Not much. I may be wrong, but the image that comes across on TV is that of a privileged frat boy. And I know several players do this now, but what the heck is up with not shaving before a around? It looks so dang lazy to see a 2-day shadow of fuzz on their faces. This is OK for weekend play at the local muni course, but anything more serious than that, please...look presentable. Overton is one of the worst offenders.

A bit nit picky don't you think? Complaining about guys not shaving? I didn't know that being clean shaven was in the dress code of the PGA tour.

I'm all for critiquing other people's clothes... or would be if I was a girl.

My buddy played HS golf against him in Evansville and said he was a total prick in HS. Cocky, smart alec, entitled on the course, etc. However, nowadays he roots for him just because of the circumstances of playing against him once upon a time. But yeah... spoiled frat boy is the impression I get not only from watching him, but from my buddies memories of competition as well.

I like Jeff Overton, he's got a good game, can putt, seems to have his head in the right place. He is entertaining to watch as well, something rare on the PGA Tour.
