Swing easy.

Yes my mind says it, my body doesn't always listen...

I already accept the fact that the game still needs work but won't accept that the shots are anomalies, just proof that in the future they will almost all be like that. There is a difference.

The difference is that some people are realistic and you're delusional. I mean that in the nicest way. They're the anomalies as other people said already.

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

I was in the same boat as you.

My good shots were fantastic but my bad shots are dead horrible. My swing was based on timing. If the stars were aligned, then I would should shoot 70's. I thought I was an inconsistent great ball striker. But I learned that I had so many swing faults. And I was no where near a good ball striker. I was swinging it hard and hoping for a great contact. I video taped myself to find out the problems. There were about 10 or so. Identified what I needed to fix first and practiced. You may need some professional help to figure out what first to work on because you can't simply work on 10 things at a time. Final warning. If possible, don't go to the course when rebuilding a swing. If you must go, then forget the scores as it will be worse. Set 1-2 objectives that you want to accomplish during a round.

Never. they will never be almost all be like that. At any level, you will hit more misses than not.

It's apparent that you don't know how to improve and don't want to listen to others.

No, it's proof you're a looney. Seriously, you think all these low handicaps and pros are that way because they were lucky? HELL no. They got there by hard work, not by being a delusional idiot. Absolutely everyone hits the occasional great shot, and it means absolutely nothing. It's the frequency of terrible shots that defines you as a golfer. The reason I'm a 6.7 and not scratch is the freqency of my mistakes. The reason a 20 is a 20 is the frequency of his mistakes. Mistakes are what make a golfer a golfer.

You can post a video of your swing; in fact, I dare you to post a video of your swing. I can tell you without a shade of doubt in my mind that you flip the club, and have to time that flip perfectly. Sometimes, it comes off great, other times, not so much. Me, I flip the club a little bit, and chicken wing after impact. My swing has high single digit handicap written all over it. It's extremely rare that you see a swing that doesn't match the handicap nearly perfectly. You think you're some rare breed, then proove yourself.

I really don't know why this title offends some of you so much and leads people on here to make assumptions about what I do and who I am...

I swear Shanks, you are a complete douche bag and anyone else that has not completely read all posts. I don't know why I feel the need to defend myself to you but I will try once again to explain it. I do not expect to shoot low 70's, I would be happy with mid to lower 80's with occasional chances to break into the 70's. I DO PRACTICE, READ and TRY TO LEARN FROM OTHER PROS. Geebus you morons are blockheads. If I didn't expect to be better why play. I want to eliminate about 10 duffs, toppers or whatever a round. I know I hit the ball and with PRACTICE and CONSISTENCY those should be somewhat eradicated. All I have said is that I have good ball striking skills and can tell when I hit it correctly. Why you have to be pissed off and a dick about this I have no idea. I do not think I am s "rare breed" however I am highly coordinated and generally good at anything I do and this game is a difficult game to master but I don't expect to master it, I just expect a little more consistency. Can you blockheads wrap your mind around this? Just because I won't accept that the shots are anomalies does not make me a "looney", I just expect more from myself. I have a swing on swing academy, it was there for my buddy WHO IS A PRO at a course outside of Kansas City. I don't know that it adequately portrays my swing because I was using a driver and my feet hang off the edge of my practice mat. I did see some mistakes on it myself. Since you feel the need to crap on me, you can view it under this screen name. I will take your comments with a grain of salt since you have developed such a disdain for me personally. I hope you get great satisfaction tearing it apart. I swear if this doesn't clear things up, there is no help for you. AND FOR THE LAST TIME THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LUCK!

So tell us again what the point of this thread was...? Because the way I see it people have tried talking sense into you, you don't want to hear it, and now you're laying into people for telling you what you clearly don't want to hear.

And Swing Academy doesn't have a search feature, so... One final thing. I teach people, and I've observed a ton of lessons as well. It doesn't matter what videos you take of people, they make the SAME SWING time and time and time again. Why do they hit one ball fat and one ball thin and then pull-slice the bejeezus out of the next one? Incredibly small differences but overall, 99% the same exact swing. EVERYONE who has played golf for any period of time is incredibly consistent. Your "good swings" are going to look almost exactly like your bad swings. You have fundamental problems in your golf swing that sometimes "align" and let you hit a good shot but most of the time do not align resulting in your TYPICAL shot. That's the truth. If you don't want to hear it, then you shouldn't have posted. SAM and some of the other people can get a bit over the top, I'll agree, but in this case they're not WRONG.

That is fine, I said in past posts that I agreed that I needed someone to look at my swing and I have agreed with positive criticism and suggestions. However I don't agreed that I should accept bad golf and look at the positives of my game as future consistency. Even if my swing has quirks, I could make these quirks consistent something like Furyk does with his swing if I can get a better feel of where my club face position is. Before I get jumped all over I don't want people to think I am comparing any likeness of myself and Furyk.

Here is the link. Sorry about the edit. I just slapped these up here for a friend to analyze. I will be recording a new video on the range after I warm up a bit more, have a level stance and not so sore from a work out. I see that my back swing is a little fast and I am over rotating with it also. http://www.swingacademy.com/videoPlayer.aspx?id=6998 http://www.swingacademy.com/videoPlayer.aspx?id=7001 I hope you can view them.

You sway backwards and flip. Also, does those videos take anyone else really long to load?

They're not signs of future consistency. If you'd read what I said, you'd see that I'm saying you're already consistent - the differences between your bad and good swings are 1%.

When you improve as a golfer you'll not just be doing more of those 1% swings - you'll be making a different motion.
Even if my swing has quirks, I could make these quirks consistent something like Furyk does with his swing if I can get a better feel of where my club face position is.

The problem with that line of thinking is that certain "quirks" are acceptable while yours are not.

You sway off the ball, don't get forward enough, don't have straight arms through impact and into the follow-through, your right knee kicks in, you lose your lag, you early extend, and you flip your hands at the ball like crazy. Jim Furyk doesn't do any of those things. Let me put it another way. Right now you have pieces A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H. Can you get more consistent at those pieces? Sure. But in reality to get better you're going to need pieces A, B, 3, 4, 5, F, 7, and 8. Entirely different pieces. It's not a matter of "being more consistent" with the pieces you have - it's changing the pieces in such a way that they're basically NEW pieces. Take the flipping for example - you don't want to be a "more consistent" flipper - you want to be someone who DOES NOT FLIP. You don't want to time your "early extension" better - you don't want to early extend. Your right knee action isn't a timing issue - it's simply a swing FAULT that needs to be removed and replaced with proper knee action. I don't mean this to sound rude, but in no way is that swing capable of generating tour-quality shots except once in a blue moon when - as others have said - you get lucky because your collection of improper swing parts all happen to cancel themselves out just right and at just the right time to let you hit the ball somewhat squarely. Those are, as someone said before, your anomalies. They're going to continue to be your anomalies until you _replace_ parts of your swing to improve them, not until you can "get better timing" or something. I speak from experience here. The swing I used to get to a 1.6 handicap a few years ago makes me want to throw up nowadays. I got really, really good at forcing my bad parts to somehow work together. But now my bad scores are my good scores from a few years ago, my good shots are no longer the anomalies (my standards were higher, but still the shots I nutted were much fewer and farther between than I wanted), and it's because I _replaced_ the parts of my swing that were causing me trouble. I'd hit a wall - I'd taken my "wrong parts, forced together" swing as far as it could go. You may have awhile to go before you hit that wall (though IMHO you're not getting to a 1.6 with that motion...), but you're gonna hit it eventually, and your current swing will not take you as low as a swing that's built upon proper and sound mechanics will take you.

Okay thanks for looking at it. I may have to post another one that has a better balance to may sure some of the faults weren't exaggerated from standing on the edge of the mat. I am sure most will still be there but I do recall being off balance during the swing. I have been trying to decrease my back swing in efforts to limit the sway but in the video it was excessive. I appreciate the evaluation.

Do us a favor. Please just select the default 4 second segment in swingacademy. I'm sure you will get more feedbacks, if it doesn't take several minutes to download the swing.

I agree with iacas on your swing. I can't wait to see your new video.

I really tried to edit the swings so they would be separate 4 second videos but it would not let me so I did the longest just to insure the swing was shown. I do not know if it had something to do with mozilla but it was a pain in the ass.

What I normally do is crop the video to 6-7 seconds. Then upload to swingacademy. Then it magically selects the 4-second segment with the swing. If it doesn't, it still is a 6-7 second video.

Brief off-topic note: I hate SwingAcademy. With YouTube I download the source video and then I can step through it in Analyzr as I want. If I ever visit SwingAcademy again it will be too soon.

Yea it sux. It has crashed my browser(s) 5 times today, IE and mozilla. I will post it to my youtube account next time. On a side note, do you think my avatar of Jack Hamm is the cause of all the hostility towards me?

    • I have had the flu recently which gave me plenty of time to pore over Joseph Mayo’s instagram. I have hit a ton of shots each day on carpet and a little started how easy this shot is to make. Key thought for me is bring the club “no closer to the earth.” That really resonated with me. If I really steepen the attack angle I can hit my 58* lob wedge barely an inch or two off the ground and a repeatable distance. I don’t recommend this but tried it to what the end ranges are for angle of descent. I actually think a 62*-64* wedge might be even better for this shot.
