I know he has done some dumbass things in his life, but I sure would love to see him win to stick it up the collective ass of all the stuffed shirts that choose to kick him when he was down.

Looking good?? He's looking amazing - 7 under after 15!!

Not sur about the trousers, though...

Daly is on fire in his opening round. Although its early, its cool seeing big John as the leader. I wish him luck. The kid McIlroy is looking good too. Boy, I just love the Open. Something about waking up and watching it at 5:30am from across the pond. Definitely my favorite to watch.

I just woke up to check things out and my jaw dropped. -7 through 16 when I first saw. Great for him. Great play on 18 with the putter as well.

Hmm. Daly rimmed out another one, he bogeyed 17 and rimmed out like 4 coming in, his still leading for now, but boy he could have really gone low had a couple More fallen. All good though hope he keeps it up.

Maybe this weekend could help him get on track. His life has been a train wreck. I was glad he didn't go out and shoot 82, and he gave himself great position at -6.

He's a very good putter, never got much credit for it, as well as his short game, amazing hands. I hope he can keep it up..

I have to say, JD has come a long way and much further than most thought he was capable of. I am really not a fan of his, but I do give credit where its due.

It isn't Big John anymore; it's Long John. He's a much smaller John now, thanks to surgery and diet.

Also, how can you say he's looking good when he's wearing what he's wearing??

But it is good to see him play well.

All of a sudden after suing a childrens charity for $100 million and everybody hating him now he has fans? Hmm. I could give a isht either way about him. I'ts just funny to see the people on tv kissing his ass now and people on message boards rooting for him when 3 days ago everyone hated him.

It's interesting to see him play well, but I don't feel especially sorry for him because of what he has "gone through". There are a lot of people out there with real problems, John Daly has persisted over the years in creating problems for himself.

His first round was top drawer and those strides he was wearing put Poulter to shame.

I'd like to see Daly up there on Sunday, as he's one of the few truly exciting players on tour, but I fear if he blows one hole badly his head will go down and that'll be end of story.

Who else's fault would it be? Did JD "catch" alcoholism like a cold?
