--- Resume ..... if you are not close to zero ..... I doubt whether playing a high end premium ball will bring much profit !

Agree with your anchor statement. I do find, however, that

midspin balls deliver a lot better flight than distance balls. On a solid, full short iron, I can get them to stop pretty well in place. Medium irons will release 3-4 feet, but at least they will stay on the green. Distance balls are great off the tee on dry, summer days... but they disappoint me elsewhere.

Focus, connect and follow through!

My feelings are this...a low handicapper can shoot a good score with any ball as long as they have enough practice with it and figure out how it will react on different shots. A premium ball just makes certain shots easier.

I play $3-4 balls because you pay for consistency of spin. Although from what I hear the Bridgestone balls are making it happen for $2.50 a ball or better.

No I'm sure it was the sound off the putter face that caused him to shank that ball OB - LOL - what a load of cr**!! The DT Solo and Srixon AD333 are better balls than the NXT Tour in what universe?

Yeah, and he was saying those were better balls than the ProV1x, not the NXT Tour.

this is like one exagerated comment after another...

So, I wasn't the only one who thought so.

Premium golf balls are great if you hit the ball solidly, but they can be just as much of a hinderance to your game if you dont hit the ball solidly. Most of us simply dont have the swingspeed and the control to utilize the added performance of a premium ball and would be better off with the low spin of a distance ball.

He played to his handicap. Do you shoot a lot of 59s with the pro v1x tour?

It seems to be lower than his average score, but I hear you.

I think there's a ball for everyone. I play Fuzz and they are good for me. I am just glad that there are so many choices.

That's the spirit.

I was just wondering what I was going to do w/ all my other balls. I was just going to hit them into the bean field that borders my acreage, but maybe I'll donate mine too.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
