Putting with a line?

I, am a firm believer in it...BUT, when I putt a lot of the time, the line doesn't track perfectly...

What do you guys think?

--Do you like the line, and how can I make sure it tracks?

Not a fan of the line. Unless the surface you are putting on is perfectly level, the line isnt going to stay lined up anyways.

Utterly distracting to me. I start the ball on line by putting it over a spot about four inches in front of the ball.

I don't mark mine with a line, but I do use the ProV1x markings on the side to line up the putt.

i will line up the text on the ball every once in a while to confirm my alignment to the initial start i want my golf ball. But i rather have it completely white so i am not stuck on the line and worry more about speed.

Totally addicted and never putt without. It just takes all the guessing out of where I want to start the ball. I verify afterwards with a quick look from behind then it is all speed.

I actually line my ball up with my line roughly perpendicular to the line I want to start my ball on. Not only is this quicker to set up, but it is less exacting and if I find my read is wrong as I step up to the ball I don't have to adjust my ball. It's just a better system for me.

Look on almost any ball and you will see a line, a directional line that you can use to help "line up" your putts, i.e. point the line in the direction you want your putt to go. so if you think the putt should be aimed 2 inches outside the hole, that's where you aim your line and then line your body up accordingly.

For example look at the lines on these pro v1's. Some people even take a marker and make the line longer/darker.

I use it every single time I putt, no matter what the distance. I feel like if I'm lined up then it's one less thing to worry about and I just need to concentrate on speed. But I agree, it doesn't always roll perfectly, and I don't really care if it does or not as long as it goes in. For me I just use it to get my putt rolling on the path that I have chosen. What it does after that doesn't matter IMO.

I believe this of little benefit, we don't putt on a pool table. It may help with concentration and routine for some. On any putt longr than six feet I am convinced it is of no benefit. I would put it the same category as using the putter as a plumb bob on anything over six feet. Like a lot of things that have a common sense appeal when really tested they don't hold up.

I marked it with a check-go sweet spot finder until it broke. Now I use the salt water method to find the sweet spot and then put a line through it.

For me it more about having confidence over the ball knowing where I am aiming. When your up over the ball it looks so different than behind. There is no guessing. I know with certainty that I want to start the ball on that line. I do sometimes get the end over end roll where you can see it tracking. Not saying that if it isn't doing that I hit a bad putt, but if it does then I definitely hit a good putt.

I put lines on my ball and then people wonder why I don't line them up when I putt. I use the lines on the tee shot to see exactly where I make contact. When putting, I trust my read and go for the speed..I'm not concerned with a line on the ball.

I used to line up every put with the line on the ball. It was so frustrating because i was concentrating too much on hitting that line perfectly that i forgot about the rest of the put.

Now, I put the name of the ball, in most cases, Titleist perpendicular to my line and pick a spot 3-6 inches in front and just roll it over that. My putting has improved dramatically.

I no longer worry about hitting that line perfectly, i trust my stroke.
