Simply disgusted.....that is all I have to say.

I'll go with Corey Pavin on this one. Corey has a lot of integrity as a person and a player. Gray has a bad rep for a reason.

I could not have said that any better. Gray should be shunned by all the players not only this week but afterwards. He would be more suited to report for the National Enquirer.

Well said, he has a history of being an uncouth, overzealous, reporter. Pavin might have said something that could have been misinterpreted, but anyone with common sense would know that the Ryder Cup captain isn't going to choose the captain's picks until after the PGA Championship.

seriously? i think he knows who he's going to pick already if the rankings stay the same, i also think he said that he'll choose Tiger but is trying to backtrack a bit. obviously thats all in my opinion

I can't stand Corey Pavin (I think he's a sniveling little turd), but that being said, I think Gray was out of line for openly confronting him like that.

I channel surf when he comes on the air, he is a tool. I was never a Pete Rose fan but what he did to him that night was inexcusable. He'll end up on American Gladiators before its all said and done.

I saw that interview as well. I wanted to kick the TV screen the way Gray conducted himself. Im not a Rose fan either, but did feel sorry for him.......... kinda.

It's the black and white spy from Spy vs. Spy. I haven't decided who to root for, but wouldn't want to go on a long road trip with either one.

Not surprising a reporter that works for BSPN made up a story.

I agree, and I think Gray is an a$$hat! He turned the Pete Rose "interview" into an inquest. Remember the MLB players refusing to talk to him post game??

If you look at the last 2 digits in my username you can probably guess what I think of Jim Gray (Pete wore #14). I always wear 14 when I play sports. Started when I was young because I play sports the way Pete played baseball (play hard, hustle, etc.). Off the playing field, Pete has been an embarrassment. As for Pavin/Gray, even if Gray was originally correct, his behavior as made him unbelievable. Who's going down now? Wasn't he also the tool that was involved in that deplorable LeBron James debacle called "The Decision"?

Corey Pavin isn't the warmest or nicest personality around but when I compare that to Jim Gray's lackluster track record, I'll stand on Pavin's side with this one. Gray is the master of this type of garbage.

The best explanation for what Pavin said was that "of course" he'd pick Tiger. Even if that's true, you can't report that as promising the pick to anyone. At least, not if you're an honest reporter...

Don't know the first thing about the guy, but puzzled as to what he did wrong here? If DJ was late and did get handed the penalty, what's wrong with reporting it? Did he editorialize on DJ's brainpower or his caddy's (in)competence, or something? Must be some details missing.

We're talking about him, and The Golf Channel, right now. That's why.

    • Man.. reading back through the thread, it’s understandable how my thread starter would be taken negatively, especially for those who really like Rory.  But for those who are calling out Troll or incorrect facts, etc etc, I’ll make a deal. If Rory wins (and I count myself in for those who would like to see him win), I’ll come back and grovel, begging for forgiveness, acknowledging how wrong I had it, etc etc But if Rory loses, and for any reasonable connection to the factors I listed, some sort of similar acknowledgement coming back the other way would be nice! 😊 👍
    • Rich Hunt has as usual (since 2013) predicted the 20 players most likely to win based mostly on data. Here's the state of things after two rounds. "Top 10" means it's his personal predition of the 10 mostlikely to win of those 20. Rose was filtered out based on lack of distance off the tee, but with his 300 average he's just over the tour average and longer than several other players that made the top 20 shortlist (Lowry, Hovland, Cantlay +), so I don't understand how that works. Maybe certain metrics overrule other metrics? Score Player Starting odds (#/1) Top 10 -7 Bryson DeChambeau 14 V -6 Corey Conners 65 V -6 Rory McIlroy 6.5 V -5 Shane Lowry 40 V -5 Scottie Scheffler 5 V -4 Viktor Hovland 35 V -3 Patrick Reed 80   -2 Xander Schauffele 20 V -1 Min Woo Lee 40 V -1 Jon Rahm 16 V +1 Byeong Hun An 150   +1 Patrick Cantlay 40   +1 JJ Spaun 175   E Justin Thomas 25 V CUT Keegan Bradley 100   CUT Tony Finau 80   CUT Sergio Garcia 80   CUT Nicolai Højgaard 200   CUT Brooks Koepka 25   CUT Matthieu Pavon 400

    • Announcing;  it bugs me when they ask “Are you proud of yourself?”  “Are you proud of the way you played?”  “Are you proud of this or that?”  In what other sport do the announcers-interviewers ask this annoying question? And then the golfers have to answer… “I was really proud of myself when.. yada yada" Tyrell Hatton, 16th hole;  Following his reaction to his tee shot, after his first putt I thought his head was going to explode.  He’s kinda entertaining that way, I think he’s the top contender for ‘most likely to explode'
    • Update on my prediction!  Standing by it, regardless of my mangling of the divorce item in point #3. As to where we stand, Rory’s turnaround, wow.  His talent is undeniable, and as he puts it himself - he’s resilient.
