So I am pretty set on going to Vokeys, but here is the dilemma. I need help selecting different degrees. I hit my PW that is 47* about 130-140 and I am thinking of going 52, 56 for now. I think it should be fine especially since I can open the 56 up a bit to get up and down before deciding on a 60*.

Please help me out here guys. Thanks!

I set my PW to 48* and went 54-60 after years of 48-56-60. I have tried the four wedge system 48-52-56-60, but really prefer just dealing with three. I actually score better using just the PW and 54 and leaving the 60 for sand, short carries, and getting the ball up in a hurry.

For me the lob wedge is indispensible and the gap wedge is a luxury. So, I would go with a 54* SW and a 60* LW. The problem with opening up your SW to use as a LW is that you are increasing the bounce and a SW typically already has 10-14* of bounce while a typical GW bounce will be about 6-8*.

My Tools of Ignorance:

Woods/Hybrids: Cobra AMP 3W and 3 HY

Putters: Scotty Cameron  35" (Several of the flow neck blade variety)

Ball: Bridgestone B330-RX and Srixon Z-Star

Bag: Nike Performance Carry

I play:

PW = 130 yards
52 = 100 yards
56 = 90 yards
60 = 80 yards

1) hit the wedges you are considering along with your PW at the golf store to see what fills in the gap. remember the bounces on each wedge also.

what the distances you want to have in your bag?
what is your scrambling percentage?
perhaps you might consider a third wedge and replace the 3 iron

Well with a third wedge it will equal 14 clubs since I don't have a 5 wood. I think I am going to go the 52, 56, 60 route because I like to have clubs I don't have to take half or three quarter swings with.

It is more or less based on your PW being 47* (mine also) ..... I think of mine getting bend to 48* ..... however 1* what is the point.

I have been using 50 - 54 - 58 with the Ping i15 set I had (PW 46*) ....... Dave Pelz 4 wedges system, but I felt no comfortable with all these choices, second I like to keep using the 2i or sometimes even the 1i ..... combining with 4 wedge sytem, meant leaving another club out..... no way ...... so I went to PW (46) - 52 - 58 (6* gaps), allthough I personally don't believe in nice even gaps, I like to have clubs with a purpose not nescessary meaning even gaps.

Now I switched to the MP-57 it is PW (47) - 52 - 58, and I must say I like the 58 very much, great from the sand and also great for some around the green work, if I go for a high quick stop ball.

I am going to go 52,56,60. I would like to be able to have exact distances with these clubs instead on relying on a short swing. I like the ball to land softer so thats why I am going with a 60* in the set. So I'll be at 47,52,56,60*

Take at least one with a higher bounce if your sandbunkers have softer sand, something like 11-12 bounce.

I LOVE my setup at the moment, ive tried many different setups... and when I say many, i recon ive tryed close to 10 different combos.

This is how i play:
P =142Yards
56 = 133Yards
62 = 120Yards

If I find it's right inbetween clubs, I will usually just grip down or hit a fade.

I think.... Im in australia and we use meters, so ive done that by converting it.

It's up to you what you like to play, ive tryed a 52 wedge before and taking out my 3 Iron and never liked it.

Good luck!

It's perfect. 47* up to 140 yards, I play the 52* for the 90-100 yard shot and chipping around the green, 56 mainly for sand only and 60 is good for flops over bunkers or shots around the green where the pin is close to the edge, cna get a lot of spin with it

Well I did it! Got the 52.08 and 56.11 for now and I will be getting the 60.07 in about two weeks! Man I can't wait for that one but I am very pleased with my purchase. I went to go chip on the practice range with a friend and loved the feel and spin with these wedges..

Nice wedges! Gotta love a brand new wedge. Didnt you have TM wedges in your sig before? 54 and 58 right? Do you know the bounces of those clubs? I have never hit either of those. Without the 60 it might be tough to compare but what do you feel for a difference? You might have to hit them a bunch of times to answer but any insight is appreciated.

I started with PW in my set and was gonna buy the Adams Watson 3 pack but couldnt find it local to feel them, I have big hands and didnt want to have to regrip 3 new clubs, so I passed and bought a 52-10 & 60-10 from a store where I could feel, swing and hit them. I wanted a 56 or thought I needed one but they didnt have it when I bought the other 2 so I figured I would use these and get it next time I saw it at the store.

Lots of people say it tough to hit a 60 but if you only have that and a 52, you get use to them fast by practicing and I did. I was getting pretty good at both of them but often wondered what the 56-14 would be like and finally got it. It is a little easier and more consistent from the trap but I can also hit it from about anywhere else. I know what to expect from all three of them with 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full swings.

I would like to try a 54 & 58 but then I would like them and before you know it I have a 3 w, 5i, putter and the rest would be wedges!

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I'm a 4 wedge guy myself and limit it to full and 3/4 swings with each. My yardages are pretty much as follows (full/three-quarters)

PW: 115/96
52: 90/75
56: 70/55
60: 45 (I only ever hit it as a 3/4 shot)

This pretty much covers me for every yardage inside 115 (I can dial it up or down a bit as needed), but it is improved my scoring tremendously. I'm usually inside 20 feet with these clubs and that leads to a lot of good looks at birdie.

I think the problem for most people is that they get 3 or 4 wedges but never really go out and practice how far they hit them, so a lot of time it's a guessing game and they try to play by feel. You MUST go out, find a field and mark off some yardages and know how far you hit each shot. When I'm at 75 yards, it's not even a question - I'm hitting a 3/4 shot with my 52 and I know I'm going to have a makeable putt 90% of the time.

Right around the green I play by feel and will use any of these clubs as the shot deems appropriate.
