Give a few lower-level balls a try too. The Srixon Trispeed/Trispeed Tour is a good ball to try, as is the NXT tour.

Hey delav I had the pleasure of playing Champions Run in Omaha this summer. I was very impressed, what a great track and what seemed to be a great club. Have you played there? What other courses in Omaha are similar? Bwglfer

My friend gave me a Noodle Tour LTD that I have used for two rounds and like it very much. I am not sure how much it cost but it between $21.99 for a dozen. Ball is long and bits enough around the green. I'll buy dozen for sure.

Sport Authority $21.99

The Noodle® Tour LTD golf balls are for the competitive player who wants superior distance, accuracy and terrific feel. It features perimeter-weighted multi-layer technology and a high-coverage aerodynamic dimple pattern that make the ball long. The super-slick coating reduces sidespin to make it straighter, and the soft compression core gives great feel around the greens.

performs similarly to the Callaway Tour iX and ProV1 in that....the Maxfli is round and has dimples and goes places when you hit it?

Yeah, same distance and green control......only costs less as I used Dick's coupons & discounts to get them around $20/dozen rather than $40/dozen.

I would suggest the Callaway Tour ix, Bridgestone E6 or the Titleist NXT, but google USGA golf ball list, it will give you the spin ratings for conforming golf balls, the first letter is the driver spoin rate and the second letter is the iron spin rate, for example it will say Titlest NXT L-L

I don't intend to thread jack here...

I have yet to play Champions Run out here, although I've heard from many that it's a great course. I'm a graduate student, and my golfing funds are pretty limited, so I primarily play at a course that I've joined in the Omaha area. I haven't played many of the private tracks, but I have played Quarry Oaks and Indian Springs which I liked quite a bit. We spent a month in Oregon this summer too. GREAT golf out there; wish I could still call it home.

okay, ive decided thata my current balls, prov1 and the penta give too much spin off the driver. and im not that good of a ball hitter to make them spin back 12 feet with the wedges and irons. having said that, i stop them on the green pretty well but the odd lost one puts a bad taste in my mouth.,

A few years ago the "Consumer Reports" did a study of golf balls and found the Nike Power Distance (soft version in the green box) was almost as good as the Pro V1. I tried them and they are pretty good around the greens and seem to also fly better than the Pro V1 off the driver (less spin).

I like them. I've been playing them for a couple months now. I also like the Power Distance High's, (blue box). They seem to hold up pretty well too... played an entire round Wednesday with the same PD Soft ball and not even a scuff mark on it, looked brand new after going through the ball washer at the 18th tee.

if you want to go super cheap try the taylormade tp black, like 25 a dozen and spin decently

Suppose to be a pretty good ball... This site reviewed the older version of these favorably a few years back.

off the driver is what im more concerned about. wedges are ok. for instance, i played with a nike power long, built for distance, today, and it gave me decent spin with the wedges. a foot or two were all the ball needed to stop.
