This thread is the short game version of the 300+ yard driving average threads.

Ha. Yeah. I've gotten too many people pissing and moaning at me about my claims for average driving distance, so I've stopped participating in those. This thread is definitely ridiculous though. For all the players I've played with whose average driving distance is longer than what anyone on this forum would believe unless your name is God or John Daly Jr., I've never known anyone who has a club they always put at 10-12 feet...

For me, I like my 54˚ Cleveland from 85 yards. That's a smooth hands to the shoulders shot for me. Maybe 1/4 of the time I'm inside 15 feet, 8-10 feet or less every once in a while, and rarely outside ~35 feet.

22-ish handicap. But I am fairly "dialed in" with my 8-iron from 138 yards. I'd take that shot any day, over a 'tween shot from 70 yards.

My ideal yardage is about 140. Anything 75 yards in makes me nervous. Time to spend some time on the pitching green I guess :)

Same here - 75 yard gap wedge or 95 yard PW - both easy 3/4 shots for me that I almost always stick close.

my favorite club to hit is definitley my 6 iron....between 180-190. otherwise a really fun shot is about 105 yds out so you can just watch a 60 degree take off and dart the green.

Great thread. I really like my 130-140 yard PW and lay up or drive to that distance regularly. Second place is my 110-90 yard shot with my 56deg...

My PW. I never know the exact distance of my current shot after the tee, I just have a visual memory on distance.

      Day 47: simulator day! Played St. Andrew’s and shot a +1. Not bad, especially with having to putt at this simulator set up. Had about 5 minutes at the end to work on some feels as well.

      I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.

      So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
