With the club being completely closed now it's actually an opportunity to get in some focused practiced on changing the picture. Doing that here, making sure the early shift is good, right foot firmly pushing outward to get the right side climbing and heel off the ground on the backswing.

I have a better/bigger net that I can hit real balls into, been only using it inside and will move it outside when my mat gets here, which is now two weeks delayed and expected to be delayed at least another week. I guess golf mats aren't that essential right now 😛

Demand has skyrocketed for golf nets and mats lately.

Facetime session with Mario today. Last week working on adjusting the grip more towards neutral to get the face less closed at 6. Other than that just sticking with the same stuff.

- Early shift right (left pic), club and hands not moving, then push outward and unweight the left heel. Re-center is better with the pelvis.

Few things I like:

- In transition starting to see elbows separate a bit, sign that the trail shoulder is getting some retraction

- Club is less closed at 6, help with the left misses and wrist extension on the downswing

- Knees square at 5, torso "closed" to the pelvis

Camera angle is a bit off on the face-on but trending in the right direction.

Working on:

- Slightly strong grip (weaker than before)
- Same pivot stuff. Early shift right/club and hands not moving, push outward with right foot and "unweight" myself.

Do you have any numbers re: things like hips open at A7 or anything like that Mike?

My numbers? Or something else?

My checkpoint is that by 5 I get my hips back to "square" (orientation at 1) or close to it. Just drew a couple lines on my belt loop and pocket at 1 as a reference.

Yeah, yours. Just curious if you knew what your hips were at ~A7.

From the visit with Kwon, looks like I'm in the 30-35 range (10 BI).

Just updating, Mario video basically says it all. To clarify, I'm not trying to take my left arm "in", it's more that the hand path doesn't pitch outward on the takeaway, which means that I'm using the body to move my arms/club and applying a little force against the grip.

Hitting it well overall, best I've ever hit it in our session last Thursday, was just flushing it.

Hit balls with Mario for about 45 mins, no pulls or pull draws (miss on the course), hit it great.

72, 76, 68 last weekend, unfortunately the 76 was a 3&2 lose in our club match play championship (not club championship). Lost to a good player just played sloppy. Had a good talk with Mario about it today, explained more in the video below. Also included lesson review from last week.

Mechanics wise, basically same stuff I've been sharing from May.

- Heel stomp and push outward
- Land forward with chest "closed", hands up (stretch)
- Get into right side bend as fast as I can

Compared to early April. Shaft closer to my right shoulder.5.jpg

Really like this, deeper left arm at 56.jpg

Less knee sag.7.jpg

Some practice after the round today. Face-on below isn't as good with the legs as the last swing I posted but really happy with everything else, especially the handle at 6.

For your practice routine, which by the way I started doing yesterday and it had an immediate impact with my irons and fairway woods (specifically off the ground), but not so much with the driver or fairway woods using a tee.  I only had one round to practice it since my range was closed yesterday so had to work it in to my pre-shot routine, but could feel what I think you feel based on the drill itself, but need more range time to get the turn more in sync after/with the weight shift.

Do you use the same drill and/or feels for driver/fairway's off the tee, meaning do you feel the same weight transfer and/or position or do you adjust something when hitting driver/fairway's off a tee?  Thanks.

Oh yeah for sure, same feel.

Last week did some shot zone collection with Mario on Trackman. Continuing to work on the same pieces with some tweaks to the setup. My typical tendency, too much knee flex, torso bent too far forward.

It's amazing how different these two pictures feel.

Then had this round on Sunday.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
