They found Furyk's ball, it wasn't hidden, no skulduggery.

There may have been.

The USA were advised they could have relief. Fowler made a rookie mistake - he wanted to play a clean ball so he dropped a ball he had in his pocket (same make and type - Titleist) and played it.

You are wrong. Watch the replays - a guy immediately runs over as soon as Fowler plays his shot and points at the ball he should have played.

Additionally, the rules official who advised Fowler of the drop was somewhat negligent in letting Fowler play that ball to begin with. They would have lost the hole anyway, but the facts aren't as you've described them. Furyk accepted the penalty after asking what it was without any delay or hesitation.
But that wasn't the case - the USA was getting relief, no penalty, the ball was in Fowler's hand but he dropped and played a different one - so he played the wrong ball.

"The ball in Fowler's hand" was not "THE" ball. It was a wrong or different ball, and the Rules Official could have helped them mark it, find the nearest point, and play the correct ball.

"THE" ball never left the spot where it landed, sitting in the mud.

What a stupid article: http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/new...ro-woods100310

Seeding positions are as much strategy as they are an indicator of confidence.

What a stupid article:

Agreed with your post. Woods has as many points as anyone else on the team and is only worse than two other players (both Euros).

I was looking at some online listings. On NBC it was listed at infomercials all morning tomorrow, while ESPN had normal programming. That would lead me to believe that NBC's schedule is more flexible, and thus they are more likely to be covering monday. I have no idea what time, or if it is tape delay or live.

I don't agree with Pavin's lineup for tomorrow's singles. Montgomerie predictably front-loaded his biggest stars to attempt to secure the outcome early on. With such a big deficit to overcome, the U.S.' best chances would have been to send out some players with enough energy to counteract the crowd's partisanship and generate some momentum, grind out the middle part of the session with some scrappy play, then leave a big gun at the end to deliver the finishing blow. That middle group of Overton, Watson, Woods, and Fowler should be standard-bearers of the singles line-up, and Stricker, Cink, and Furyk should be taking the body blows and extending the proceedings. It's 2002 again: Europe is going to clinch the cup before Tiger and Phil can be a factor.

What a stupid article:

From the article:

Montgomerie struggled to contain his amazement – and delight – at Pavin’s bizarre selection decision. “I am trying to be as diplomatic as possible throughout this week, and I continue to be that way,” said Montgomerie. “But it does surprise me that Match 8 and Match 10 contain the No. 1 and [No.] two in the world.” The #1 player in the world has not played well this year. Phil not so much after the Masters. To me it seems crazy to have them going out early when you knew Montgomery would have his best up front. Perhaps he is disappointed that he didn't get the pairings he hoped for.

Hmm..only matches that the US is favored in is Tiger/Phil's match up, and they haven't been playing up to their standards. I think Cink and D. Johnson will win their matches though.

From the article:

What does that even mean? Has Monty seen how Phil and Tiger have been hitting it this week? The goal of the Ryder Cup is to win, period. Why put a struggling Tiger up against a red hot Westwood? Makes no sense.

Monday's play is on USA network 4AM EST, and TSN 4AM EST in Canada. Based on what I read on the ryder cup website, you should record about 8 hours to get everything.

In my bag | TM R9 10.5° | TM Burner 15° | TM Burner Rescue 19° | Mizuno MP-37's | Vokey 54°/60° | TM Rossa Daytona | Bridgestone e6

    • New clubs came in this morning and I happened to be working in the area so I picked them up. PING G430 Max 3W (-1.5°) with PING Tour 2.0 Black 75, X-Stiff at -1/2" PING G430 3H with PING Tour 2.0 Chrome 85, X-Stiff Those replace my old fairway wood and hybrid, making all 14 clubs in my bag fitted. I'm going to need new excuses for bad shots 😜
    • Ooh, I don't know about that. I've hit flop shots that are 6-7° down. The more you widen the spin loft the less ball speed you put into the ball.

    • Can't brag about a 50 last night but it was the best round of my season (4 rounds of 9 holes) so I am not as upset as I could be.  One thing I am noticed is that I got a little more confident in my long hybrids and I attempted a couple longer shots that typically I would just lay up and those holes were a big part of the lower score.  Not every shot was great but good enough that they helped.  I even shot par on a Par 5 after taking a drop.  On that hole I would usually lay-up to @ 100 yards and often miss the green altogether with my 3rd shot (or worse chunk my approach and put it in the waste area).  Yesterday I went for it from @ 200 yards out with wind in my face and landed in the waste area short of the green.  My drop left @ 40 yards in and I stuck it to 3 feet for my par putt.  If I had laid up I would have avoided the penalty stroke but likely would not have been on the green in regulation and may still have been working for par.  By going for it I gave myself a chance at birdie and still saved par. I do not plan on being crazy aggressive but I think I tend to be too conservative at times so I will "go for it" a little more often going forward.
    • Day 14 (15 May 24) - Worked with the SW in the backyard, short pitches from 10yds up to 30yds.   Focused on ball placement in stance - ball back, ball forward, ball center.  Afterwards moved to inside the shop to work on putting pace on the rug - putting one way gives about an 8' putt, going the other a 6' before bumping onto the adjacent rug.  Focused there on the line - picking a target point about 18"-24" out and making sure the ball rolls through that point.
