With the Ryder Cup upon us, we will be seeing a lot of fist pumping this weekend. This had me asking myself who the best and worst fist pumpers have been over the years.

For me:

Best - Sergio Garcia w/ Tiger Woods getting Honorable Mention

Worst - David Duval

My equipment:

Driver - Callaway FT3 Fusion (9 degree)
3 Wood - Orlimar Tri-Metal (9 degree)
Hybrids - Bobby Jones (17, 21 & 25 degree)

my all time fave celebrations are a tie between tiger ''raising the roof'' after that hole in one at scottsdale, and tom watson high stepping across the green after sinking that chip shot at pebble. but as far as pure, unadulterated fist pumping goes, i don't think there's anyone better than tiger, or worse than steve stricker.

I bet will see plenty of Knockles (knuckle tapping) going on this weekend...Since that's the "in" thing these days. Damn kids and their cool things and ways about them these days. Okay, I'm 27 and have done plenty of cool guy knocks in my day. GO USA!

Second best - many candidates from "The Jersey Shore" season 1. Worst - a cavalcade of "WTF was that"s from the LPGA. Karrie Webb rings a bell.

Agree with Tiger at the '08 US Open for the best - it's hard to imagine any better image capturing pure sports winning exhileration than Tiger's reaction at the 18th:

In reality, my vote for best fist pump should be the same as my vote for best touchdown dance or post goal celebration - "Who cares?"

the worst imo is padraig harrington when he won i think it was the PGA... just horrid. im sure you guys know what im talking about.

It kinda reminds me of Joe Carter when he won the World Series for the Blue Jays. He kept jumping yet his head hardly moved.

the worst imo is padraig harrington when he won i think it was the PGA... just horrid.

Agreed. Paddy just isn't a very graceful guy.

Still an award winning Irish dancer, though maybe that just says something about Irish dancing.

      Day 27 (7 Dec 25) - Got in a few swings with 9i and hard foam balls in backyard.  Setup weight fwd (rebuilt left foot really lets me feel the weight in a slightly painful way) - kept the backswing to around 9 o’clock focusing on contact and resulting divot pattern.  Like how the hard foam balls come off the face (almost like real balls in sound).  A good abbreviated session as I only able to hit about a dozen balls in the fading light.

      Not the part I was replying to: Handicaps did not go down much (like 0.14 on average IIRC?) when we went from 10/20*0.96 to 8/20. And a good chunk of that was from the +s.

      I think he meant in the UK. The old system was completely different from the new one. 10/20 x 0.96 vs 8/20 would really only impact very low handicaps I think. The 0.96 serves to increase differentials for plus differentials, where 8/20 vs 10/20 works to lower differentials for all. I don't know many plus golfers who would be upset that their index got lower. A lot of really good players don't even really keep their handicaps up-to-date. They're much more interested in their WAGR rankings which get them entries to certain events.
