I guess my serious response to the video is it is good advice but I really didn't need it. I don't play with women often and when I do it usually is in some sort of mixed ABCD format or when I go out single I sometimes get paired up in a group of women or one that includes at least one female. But I just behave like I do when playing with buddies (other than possible tree watering) and expect the same from the females in the group. If we have a bet and I lose I expect to pay and I expect get paid if I win. I always ask if we are playing "ready golf" or not and if I'm using different (and further back) tee boxes I ask if it is OK if I go first when it isn't my turn. I don't give or take "gimme putts", but if we don't have a bet they are free to play by their own rules if they want. I don't give swing advice on the course (or elsewhere) as I don't think I'm qualified to do so. If I'm ask I usually beg off and suggest a Pro. I will, if ask, read a putt or give course management opinions, but if not ask I stay shut up (always good advice around women). So in general I enjoy playing with females upon occasion, but wouldn't recommend it as a steady diet.

Clearly he's a "died in the wool batchalor," whatever that is. Perhaps the first and only one of his kind.

From the opinions I see in this thread, I can certainly see where the perception that led to the video came from. Talk about condescending. There's a word for some of the uber-male personalities I see here... misogyny.

I play golf regularly with women, both friends and strangers, and it's rarely anything other than pleasant. I treat them the same as I would any other golfer, and I expect and receive the same from them. As far as etiquette is concerned, I see the same breaches from men as I do from women... in fact once a breach is pointed out, I find that women tend to take it to heart more readily than some men do. I play about once a month with one senior lady who, if you make the mistake of kicking her ball back to her for a "gimme", will let you know in no uncertain terms that you don't ever do that.

I really don't get the attitudes I see here at all. I take my game quite seriously, yet I can still relax and enjoy playing with anyone, male or female, regardless of skill level, as long as they take a positive approach to the game. I guess that having played for 40 years, I can take the game for what it is - a pleasant pastime, not life and death.

You picked up an extreme dislike of females? Been watching Oprah lately?

Just reading this thread. And one definition is simply distrust of women. All I know is that I have trouble seeing how many of the responders in this thread would ever have any sort of a relationship if the opinions posted are how they really feel about women. I just dont get it...

The fact that you're so p*ssed about Stina's video is better than anything in this post. Dude...

Playing golf with a woman is fine. You treat her like you would any other golf companion and everything is dandy. Oh - and most women that know what the hell is going on play briskly and pleasantly. A lot of you are sexist, probably sexLESS, a-holes...

LOL, no I'm not the first one of my kind, but indeed there aren't many of us--that have never been married.

When I started this thread, I was responding to Stina setting up a straw man--this idiot who none of us would want to play with, and saying, this is the trouble we have when we play with you guys. It was insulting and snarky.

So I thought I’d post a list of things I have experienced when I have played with women. Not all women I have played with, but no man I have played with has done these things on the course. This is not about woman-hating or misogyny, as has been suggested, although some of the posts other that mine have sounded like that.

It’s just that since the issue was raised, there is another side that is real and just as annoying. From Stina’s bully pulpit she should be educating all golfers, not just men. She should say one time, ladies, this is what you do that annoys the hell out of the men you play with. Since she hasn’t done that yet, and the future looks dim, I thought I’d help her out a bit.

Man! A lot of you guys are just whipped and whipped by the females. First of all Stina, you have insulted me by your attitude toward men. The feminist agenda at discounting men's worth is very obvious. I watch PGA and LPGA and don't give me the crap about equivalence. I have played with and behind women for 50 years and I have a little clue for you. Most men get it. I"m tired of the political correctness of constantly bashing men. There are vast numbers of women golfers who cannot keep they mouth shut when it is someone elses turn to hit or cannot find their ball. I have riden with women who constantly drove past the men's tee during mixed events. I don't need wardrobe advice on the course either. And attention women, "don't ask me what club to hit or what you are doing wrong." Go ask Stina. She knows everything. If there is a snake near your ball, you take care of it. And I won't treat women like men on the golf course. Men constantly dig each other and bust balls for giggles and grins. Do that with a woman and they start to cry.

The video is pure feminism, but very funny otherwise.

By the way, OF COURSE you overreact and throw your clubs to the ground after bad shots, that's part of the game.

Bullshit!!! Everything you've ranted about I've seen plenty of men do too. If you haven't then you don't get out much. And your last statement is just stupid. Women take ribbing just as easily as men do, as long as it isn't mean spirited. If it's done viciously, then a man won't take it any better than anyone else will.

And you seem to have a lot of anger.... I probably wouldn't consider you to be a lot of fun either.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
