Guys

I have been playing the old original Rac Chrome. I have used the vokeys and Clevelands in the past and have liked both, but really like the Taylormade RAC better. My grooves are wore out and looking for a new wedge. Any reviews or comments on the XFT wedge would be appreciated. I know Taylormade is coming with a new wedge in the spring, anyone got any insight on that.. should I wait......

i like my xFT's
similar shape to a Vokey, heavier than a Vokey, soft feel for a cast wedge and being able to change out the face for fresh or conforming grooves is awesome

i think TM hit something good with these wedges for sure

^^^ Agreed! I love how you can swap out for some fresh grooves and they are pretty cheap for a new set of grooves as well. I love the feel of them as well. Tho I am a bit of a TM β€’β€’β€’β€’β€’ haha.

Does anybody know if they are going to be able to make the Z groove inserts after the end of the year? I'm thinking of making the switch and I'm not sure if I need to "stock up" on the inserts as well.

They are great wedges, most wedges are cheep made now and are not forged so don;t worry about then being cast. The face insert thing is abit of a have, but not a had idea. If you only play like once a week you should not need new grooves for like 2 years +

Not much of a TM guy but I really like the XFTs. Nice feel, useful grind and damn good looking too. As far as the inserts go, I'm pretty sure they've already churned out enough of those that you'll be able to pick them up on ebay for many years to come. If you're worried, just stock up on half a dozen now.

Local golf shop is having a Christmas sale on these. $50 off and one free replacement face. I cracked and bought a 56/12 as my Mizzy SW is beat to hell.

Wow, that's a great deal! TGW.com is having a 15% off sale which takes these to $76.50 and free shipping. I think I'm going to bite. I gotta get two so I have a replacement for both my 52 and 58. At least the face plates are the same on all models.

But don't they feel 10000000x worse than a forged wedge?

I spent about two hours around the practice green with the XFT this evening. Really like the feel and everything works well for me except longer pitches from frog hair lies. The sole seems quite grabby/stubby in its turf interaction compared to the sharp leading edge I'm used to with the Mizunos. If I went to a full set, I would probably get the 60/06 for this particular duty.

Very happy with these wedges. Picked up a full set and, with the free replacement faces, should be good for a while.

I hit them for a while up against a Mizuno and CG15 at the PGA Tour Superstore. I didn't like the feel at all. My plan for sharp U grooves for years to come has been foiled. Very disappointed.

I used the Mizunos before and actually prefer the feel of the XFTs around the green. On fuller swings, the XFTs do feel heavier and more inert -- probably because the exchangeable face stuff at the back sets up like a big muscle pad. Won't suit everyone but doesn't bother me.

I just switched to XFT wedges 50, 54, & 58; I love em. They feel heavier than the average wedge, which I like because the club head gets through the grass and dirt really well with less effort. But, I was told by a friend that I couldn't use my wedges in an upcoming tournament because the grooves are not post 2010 (v grooves); I'm using the XFT- "Z" grooves. Thank you Taylormade for saving me money; I can replace the face with a new regulation face insert instead of buying new wedges. I hope Taylormade brings the XFT back in some shape or form; it was a true innovation to a club that has not seen much innovation throughout the years.
