Coca-cola.

I've heard that if you aren't careful Coke will tear right through the chrome too. I've also heard WD-40 works well.

Tried it with an old wedge that I found lying around and it worked wonders without damaging the chrome.

From http://www.mizunousa.com/faqs.nsf/get?openform÷=golf :

My forged irons have rust showing up on the face of the club, what should I do?
Forged heads are made of mild carbon steel that is chrome plated. Once you start hitting golf balls, you scratch the surface of the chrome and eventually expose the raw steel to moisture, and chemicals that can cause rust to form. The best way to minimize rust is to keep the irons dry at all times, wipe them after every shot and at the end of the round with a dry cloth. When cleaning, use only a NYLON brush (no metal) and dry them with a dry towel. If you get some rust forming, spray the surface with WD-40, clean with a soft nylon brush or Scotchbrite pad and wipe them clean with a dry cloth. Some high nitrogen fertilizers, sandy soil conditions and water with high iron content can accelerate the production of rust. The use of iron head covers is not recommended as they trap moisture and accelerate the production of rust.

Do you think it is a problem to have your clubs standing in minus degrees. Right now i put them in the garrage which is dry but often very cold.

It would only be a problem if you bring them into the house a lot due to condensation. IF they stay cold and dry, then they'll rust slower. How many ball do you hit that MP-52s would be rusting already?

Thanks for the answer.

Hehe they are not, only 1 season old. I just left my clubs in the garrage and right now its -10 and night and was wondering if it´s healthy for them to stay there. It is gonna be 3 more month before i come home. I am Currently in Brazil, hello 35 degrees :)

I guess it depends on HOW cold. I don't know if the cold affects the epoxy in the hosel but I wouldn't feel right leaving my clubs in a 5* garage here in Minnesota. Sadly, they are put away in the house for the winter. Only 4 more months to go....

Personally, I wouldn't leave a driver or fairway wood in the garage all winter.

When I was in gradeschool (looooong ago), some of the fathers worked for the Coca-Cola bottling plant. They got free Coke for our picnics - but they wouldn't allow kids below sixth grade to drink it. They told us they used the syrup - before the sugar was added - to clean the machines.

Raise the pH and you've probably used it to cleaned your walls before painting (TSP). Leave it where it is, and maybe you have some under the kitchen sink for cleaning hard water from your electric kettle (CLR).

Yet people still use iron covers.
