Saturday afternoon (two days ago), my baby girl was born. We tried to deliver the natural way, plus an epidural, but by the time my wife was even half dilated there was a strong drop in the baby's heart rate with each strong contraction. The midwife in charge watched the situation and as it got worse, decided that it was clear the baby was in distress and told us we needed to pull the plug and go for a c-section before anything bad happened. It was a good decision, it turned out that the baby had the umbilical cord wrapped tightly twice around her neck, a life-threatening position to be in. She's a beautiful little angel, our first child, and the first grandchild for both sets of parent. She's been very cooperative these first two days in the world, she eats and sleeps well. She and her mother are in great health. We'll leave the hospital tomorrow morning. I tried to catch the AT&T; Pro-Am Sunday, but all sorts of baby business made it hard to see much. I did get to see Points hole out from 100 yards, though.

Contrats!  My son is almost 6 months.  Babies are awesome.  Glad to hear things turned out alright.  Scary situation for sure.  The upside of a c-section is no smushed baby face!

These were from Saturday.  When you get a chance, we need MORE pictures!!

Congratulations! The 8yo I regard as "my" daughter I didn't meet until she had already turned one year old (I'm her step-father), so I can't comment on what the first year is like, but it's awesome after that and I've heard good things about the times I missed. :-)

Nice second pic, shades. ;-)

Congrats bud.  Nothing compares to the feeling of watching your baby enter the world.  It is truly an amazing experience.  My son will turn 1 y/o in March and it has been such a rewarding year.  Life takes a drastic change when you become a father.  You def see things through a new perspective.  Thankfully my wife is such a great person, and we work great together to still be able to do things we like to do and share all the parental responsibilities.  All I can say is strap on your seatbelt and hold on, its going to be an amazing ride.

What a head of hair!!

I know, lmost everyone comments on her hair. It's rare to see that much on a newborn.

Indeed. My wife and I have started celebrating when we get a full 6.5 hours of sleep at night (not uninterrupted, just total).
Congrats, glad to hear everything worked out for the best!

My wife's official due date for our first is tomorrow, 2/19.  I tried to get as much golf in as possible over the past 2 weeks, as I'm sure my free time will be reduced very soon.

I'm tempted to go hit 'em today, if not for the rain, oh and my wife being full term.

Congrats again and good luck!

Congrats. Daughters rock. So much of what we do before having kids seems pointless and selfish once their born. Once they get a bit older though, they find the things we do sort of interesting. Yes, even golf.

Congrats.  It seems like only yesterday my wife and I were welcoming our first born into the world (in West Texas of all places).  Now, we have four beautiful and healthy kids (actually, the oldest is now officially a teenager).

All I can say is invest in them with your time and love - guaranteed returns at the highest level.

I have a 16 year old son and 10 year old daughter,  life doesn't seem complete without a child in my opinion.  I recommend talking to your daughter as much as possible and reading at this early age is good.  As she get old you can introduce balls for hand eye skill that will help her later in her golf game.

Congratualation and enjoy, the years good by quickly.

"My swing is homemade - but I have perfect flaws!" - Me

Congrats on the new new addition. Cherish every moment and protect both your girls, cause the days we live in now are surely different from those we grew up in.

My first daughter was born October 15th 1975, in a hospital in Augsburg, Germany. I had quit smoking about 6 weeks before. Sitting in the waiting room at 2am after they moved my wife to delivery, I was kind of sleepy. We were the only folks in that section that night. Anyway after about 20 minutes of waiting I hear somebody running up the stairs at the end of the hall, the guy comes past me in full stride in his pajamas and a raincoat (WTF). He disappears into to the delivery suite.  Whoa!  I was up and walking a grove into the carpet then. A nurse comes out and says there was some difficulty but another Dr is now assisting. (Well tell me something I don't know!)  I picked a fine time to stop smoking, so off I went to find a cigarette machine. I get back and the Nurse says all is well and under control. I laugh about it now but it took another year to stop smoking again. Anyway my little girl is married now and has three of her own, but I still remember that night like it was yesterday.

Wonderful moments for you!  My first born also had lots of hair but that was 1958 and I didn't know what to expect.  In fact, the fathers were not even allowed on the same floor of the hospital in those days!  Now she is in her 50's and it has been a great experience to be her Dad all these years.  Same for all my children, I am so blessed.  Form your caring association with your kids from the git-go so both of you can be a blessing to each other for the whole ride.  And as a bonus, I am introducing my grandchildren to the game of golf. Congrats!
