Can't these announcers shut up for one minute?  They began yacking needlessly as soon as the telecast began on the 10th tee with the very first threesome of Watson, Kim and Couples, who, by the way, are making a mess of the hole.

Dangerous hole to be driving at it seems. Why doesn't the players know that if two balls lie close to eachother in a bunker, you have to mark and remove one before the other takes his shot, then put it back after? The hole is slow enough as it is, being a driveable par 4. The group behing wait for ages on the green to clear, then Mickelson hits it way short and the other two lay up.

Tough break for Dustin, showing up late for his tee time and suffering a two shot penalty.

Why was DJ late?  Did they say?

According to TOUR officials, Johnson was on the driving range, which is downhill 50 yards or so from the first tee, when his group was scheduled to tee off. He arrived within the five-minute window to avoid being disqualified, but he was still penalized.

They also commented on the broadcast that there had been a miscommunication somewhere.

Btw., loving the Mic'ed up feature where we can hear tidbits of what a player says during a round.

Bubba is mic'd up today. According to his own words he "can't hit golf shots today".  Bummer.

Couples looks like he could still play and compete with the younger guys.  Why in the world would he play on the Champions Tour if that's the case?

Regarding Couples, my guess he could do "OK" on the PGA Tour these days.  He maybe could still win an occasional tournament, I suppose, but his putting would hold him back week in and week out.  On the other hand, he is one of the favorites to win every week on the Champions tour.  That's almost guaranteed easy money.

Evidently, his caddy got the tee time mixed up.  He thought it was 8:12, when it was actually 7:32.  I'm assuming it was the same caddy as the PGA Championship.  Should never happen.

I'm thinking that DJ better start paying attention to this stuff himself.  This is the second time in just a few events where he's been penalized due to confusion over things that a player should never be confused about.  These are basic informational items which are a part of every tournament he plays.  Ensuring that he has the correct information is his responsibility.  Blaming his caddy, correctly or not, is a cop-out.

For the short time he has been on the PGA TOUR it seems to me like it takes a lot of effort to be Dustin Johnson. Fair or not the guy seems to have a lot of drama surrounding him. Hopefully it's just an experience thing with him.

Yea, I'm with you and four-putt. The guy seems to be shocked that there is a world happening around him.

I agree, it is ultimately Johnson's responsibility, no question.  However, it is the caddy's job to help Johnson, and knowing the correct tee time is his responsibility as well.  That is why he gets paid.  And, given Johnson's unwillingness/inability to read a rules sheet or a teetime sheet, I think the caddy should make an extra effort to get things right.

Oh good, another kukuya tournament... Did the announcers just say that players that pick the ball would play better on this grass?

Went to watch a little today. Got to see Fred and AK with Phil, Luke and Casey 's group right behind. 11, 12 and 13 all kinda criss-cross. As I was waiting on 11 for Fred's group I saw a bunch of guys get eaten up hitting shots into the greenside bunker on 12. That hole is a beast. Freddy birdied it though. I also watched Phil on 11 take relief from a cart path, then from a sprinkler, only to wind up having to stand on that same cart path with what looked like a worse lie to begin with. He then in turn tried to hit a 3 wood from this thick lie and totally skulled it with the most awkward of looking swings. That didn't work.

I love Riv. That place is so fantastic.

I'd agree but I'd have to imagine a 26 year old with his success would have a lot of women around him at all times.
