A thought that's crept in my head recently: Bubba could win the Masters.

Hits it a mile. Hits it high and can land it soft. Can carve it both ways consistently with any club in his bag. Did I mention he hits it far? This year has drove it pretty consistently on his line. Is making all kinds of putts.

I feel like if he can keep his brain and emotions under controll for 16 hours in that pressure cooker, he's got the game to do it. I know a lot of folks are calling for DJ to be a favorite, which makes sense excepting his form this year which hasn't been impressive.

What do you fine folks think? Could Bubba bannana-ball his way to a victory?

Of course he could.  Its just a matter of keeping his mind right for 4 rounds in a row.

This.  I love watching the guy play.  His biggest hurdle in any tournament is his head.

I was talking to a friend last night about this. He is one of my picks to win for sure.

Without question he has the game to win. I like the way he works the ball and can create shots. Plus he probably would look good in green.

It would be great to see Bubba in the green jacket this year, even more satisfying today to see him beat Kaymer!

Glad to see I'm not alone in my thinking. The other thing about the Masters is that there isn't really penal ROUGH...it's more about hitting the ball the right direction(s) so that you can go at flags. Bubba can carve it and hit spots with anyone...his misses are when he overcooks it.

I think he has the distance and the putting to do it, but I don't know if his iron play is good enough to consistently put him in the right spots on the greens. He fits the sort of mold for Masters winner, but I don't think he'll ever win one.

Hmm. Last round at Torrey wasn't enough for you?

One round does not a Masters favorite make.

I'm not saying I don't like him or that I don't think he's good-because I do like him and I do think he's good-I just don't think he'll win the Masters. Hardly a huge insult.

I would love to see him win it.  The guy is just straight money at the right time.  Its really really hard not to like him.  DJ is my favorite player but Bubba has become my 1A to DJs 1.  I just love how he is a gigantic bag of emotions so much fun to watch.

As much as I like Bubba, he sure struggles with the pressure coming down the stretch. He looks like he's about to pop going in to 18 vs. Kaymer.

I think the masters and british open are bubba's 2 best chances at a major. I'm not saying he can't win any of them but I think the 2 with the least trouble to get into are the british and masters. Bubba is loaded with talent and if he is going good he can win anywhere but he just has to keep his head on straight.

I don't think he has any chance at the British. Bubba has played in 2 British Opens, and he has been cut twice. If  he is going to win a major I think it will be in majors where he has played well. He had a 2nd in last year's PGA, and a T5 at the 2007 U.S. Open. I think if he wins a major it will be in one of those two events.

I like Bubba, however Augusta is an exceptional mental challenge.  I would love to see someone like him win it, it would be amazing.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
