Yeah but the jets always play terrible in the first half and make combacks in the 2nd half that are too close for comfort.  (at least thats what they did two years ago, this year....not so many combacks)

My roommates are packers fans and are all happy and worry free while watching football.  I am pulling my hair out while my team is down and taking stupid penalties

How soon we forget... the touring band from the '70s was called Styx (like the mythological river), not Stixx.  I think I'll go to see them in Houston next month.  I saw them a lot when I was younger since they were from Chicago as I was.

Haha, I had to register just to make a post. I have been playing regularly for about 8 month now, I smoke weed a fair bit, but I never once though it was standard practice for some people to get baked while playing. I have to try it sometime. It may be seriously frowned upon in England though.

Have a buddy who likes to do it on the course......never breaks 100. I tried a couple times, totally threw off depth perception never again without some potato chips.

This thread should be a debate between intelligent adults. I personally do not smoke while on the course or before playing a round. To me it's the most beneficial post-round when you're feeling worn out and your back/legs are sore. There is no better remedy for back pain without a prescription for pain killers. The argument for the opposition of cannabis usually means you've never tried it (due to stereotypes or possible lack of availability). Do your homework and don't believe everything you hear. And if you're just trolling...well played.

Dragons are much scarier.  Dragons are huge, scales like armor, razor-like talons and BREATHE FIRE!!!  Unless you're talking about those little bearded dragons from PetSmart.  Large fire-breathing reptiles > stumbling brain eaters.

I don't understand.  Why is it so hard to be a Cowboys fan?  They have won Superbowls  and make the playoffs on occasion.  Try being a Lions fan and then we will talk.

I agree with this. To each his own but personally I have tried it twice(once on the driving range and one over 9 holes) and it just caused me to top the ball and not keep my head down as much. I noticeably did worse, I had fun though and I think that is a big appeal to it.

I would, just once like to actually get high while riding around on the course, I did it beforehand the couple times I tried. I enjoy it, but I just don't associate it with golf.

No such thing as a "weed hangover".  You play golf.  It's a roller coaster ride unless you're some kind of PGA freak who's very consistent.

3 thoughts.....

1.  Number of deaths from drinking too much alcohol last year......more than one

Number of deaths from smoking too much weed in the history of time....ZERO

2.  It''s not only stoner's who are arguing its legality.  I haven't smoked in years.....

3. Marijuana is no different than other drugs?  Weed grows from the ground, God's earth....Meth, cocaine, etc are manufactured and cut with dangerous chemicals....

Re. #1: I suspect there's been far more than the zero your non-evidence-based assertion suggests that have ever died from smoking weed.

Re. #3: Duh. The arrow poison frogs of the amazon rain forest weren't manufactured either - eat one of them would you?

Re. Re. #1:  Zero is the correct number, unless you account for an accident because of weed (ie. car accident).  but weed is virtually non-toxic to the body, and the toxicity level for death is ridiculously high (no pun intended!)

Re. Re. #3:  that's unrelated to the topic of legality of weed

What I use for an avatar isn't relevant to my comments is it? Typical that you'd be insulting though.

You think weed is non-toxic? Smoke away my good man. It's OK, I'm only a post-doc biochemist who works with pharmacologists, most of whom research THC and other cannabis constituents etc. What do I know?

My comment re. the frogs was relevant as the post I responded to was using the fact that weed grows naturally and therefore is fine. It's not.

I should have known better than to dip a toe in this cess pit; won't make that mistake again.

    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.
