2 Thursdays ago I popped into the Golf Masters at my local driving range. My Irons badly needed to be regripped and I've never done it b4 so I figured I'd just pay and have it done right.

After talking to the merchant briefly I decided on the Golf Pride tour White Wraps. I liked the look and feel and tackyness of them on the set of demo irons there.

I was informed that he didnt have them instock atm but that the delivery would for sure be in tomorrow and I could pick up my clubs on monday. I wound up working late the first half of the next week and then called them on wednesday to pick up my irons.

THe guy on the phone said "Yep all done and I really cleaned those up for you what were doing with them? haha..."

Im like great Ill sneak out of work a bit early and hit the range with my newly gripped irons today! OF course when I show up at the store I see my irons lying on the workbench w/o grips and the guy whom I had talked to had allready gone home. Was told by another guy that the grips would for sure be in tomorrow and I could pick them up then.

Skip forward to last saturday I go in with my dad who wants to see the store, BOOM my irons in the same exact spot with no grips on them yet and the person who took my clubs from me is still not in. This time the guy felt bad and gave me a ping g15 7i to hit at the range.

Today I went in thinking they must be done by now (I also wanted to hit a small bucket with my driver) My clubs have finally moved to a different spot yet they are still not gripped! Now i get angry and let the worker know my displeasure that its been two weeks and ive allready missed a  few rounds of golf because I had no irons. This guy seemed generally sorry so I left him with my cell phone # and told him to have the guy gripping my Irons call me once he gets in.

So what should I do.. I want to play this weekend and if they are not ready 3+ weeks is too long and i fear I will snap on these guys. At what point do I go in and demand my clubs back and go somewhere else?

What would you do?

(SORRY FOR THE RANT i NEEDED THAT)

You need to see a manager. 2 weeks is WAY too long for a simple re-gripping. There is no excuse for that.

Did they cut off your existing grips? And did you pre-pay or are you paying upon completion?

They allready cut them off. I am paying when I pick them up. Also, AFIK theres only 2 guys working there the guy who does grips and the guy who runs the swing analyzer. So I havent asked for a manager because theres only 2 guys working there :( .......

i had a simlar thing happen, they did re-grip them but the grip were differnet sizes 2 jumbo 1 small 2 med 2 large etc. took them 3 times to get them right, i told the manager i would'nt let them wrap my sub sandwich..

That's pretty lame... they should definitely not charge you for the labor of regripping them and should seriously discount the price of the grips if not just give them to you as well... there is no reason that it should take even a week let alone two or three.

Sully -- You've been more than adequately patient.  I'm a pretty laid back guy, but I'd have demanded my clubs back by now and gone elsewhere.  That place's service (or lack thereof) is obviously bad.  If they'll grip your clubs for free, or with a heavy discount, fine.  At least they made an attempt to make it right.  If they don't, I'd spend the 10 minutes it takes to report them online to the Better Business Bureau so that others don't deal with the same crap you have with this place.

Them placing an order for your grips takes less than 5 minutes.  Their installation takes 30 minutes if they're taking their time.  Unacceptable.

yes, free free free!! they should be for free. get a refund for sure. talk to the manager and get him to give your money back tomorrow. roger dunn re-grips 100 clubs a day. probably more! and they get a full set done within hours. not the next day. the same day. that's bull. no need to be sorry for the rant. I will join in on your rant.

no excuses for this.

Totally agree, my brother and I regripped all 13 of his clubs in less than 2 hours last week, you are getting the run around.

I usually have mine regripped in the pro shop at my home course.  Just had it done this week... took 2 hours.  I didn't want any special order (Golf Pride Tour Velvet is what I prefer), but even if I had, they will send someone out the same day to get the grips and usually have them ready to go not later than the next day.  They do a lot of clubs for regulars at the course, and I've never seen it take more than 2 days.

3 weeks is just stupid long.

This is the main reason I do my grips myself. I do not cut them off until the new ones are ready to put on. Losing no golfing time. Go get the clubs. Find another shop. Even when they eventually get the grips in...do you trust them to do a perfect job???

I definitely think he is blowing you off for other more profitable activities.  I would get my clubs back and find someone who wants my business now and in the future.

Im a bit of a tea kettle and im boiling over at this point it may get loud next time im in there thanks for letting me know im in the right.

If you got access to an air compressor, you could order some PURE grips and put those on... super easy to install and a great grip... the PURE soft wrap should be pretty close to the Golf Pride Wraps you'd chosen...

Easy...they did the hard part for you taking the grip off. You will need about $10 in supplies (grip tape and grip solvent) and the grips. Since this is your first go, use more grip solvent than actually needed until you get a feel for how much is needed. Use a shallow drip pan like a paint pan to catch the access. Places around here charge around $4 a club. If the grips are off, I can do a set of 13 clubs in about 20 minutes. I know the job is done right. Drop me a PM if you have any questions...happy to help.
