If everyone is so concerned about club speed and the weight of their club down to a couple of grams, of which there are 28 in an ounce and 448 in a pound, and why do golfers,  and I am mostly refering to pro on tv, wear watches. I know a wrist watch will not change the swing weight of a club but it will add to the overall amount of weight a golfer will have to move in order to swing the club. It just seems that wearing a watch will only slow down your swing.

I take my watch off and keep it in my bag when I play.  Both the weight and the size of the face tend to interfere with my swing.

EDIT: Just fyi, it's a Citizen Skyhawk.  It's neither light nor small.  I take it off when I do lots of things.  It constantly interferes with the touchpad on most laptops, as an example.

I don't know that it makes a difference but I take my watch off when playing.  It just feels more comfortable that way.

I take my watch off purely because the face is fairly wide and it presses on the back of my hand during the swing.

I keep mine on. It is standard size face and chain strap, so it makes no difference what so ever.

A watch will not slow down your swing enough to make a good shot into a bad shot.

I worry that they shock will ruin an automatic movement so i dont wear my regular watches but may get a Garmin S1

When you're swinging something like a club, not all grams are equal. Those at larger radii---such as at the club head---are much more important than those near the pivot. In a very simplistic approximation, one gram at the club head will be as hard to swing as 100 grams a centimeter from the pivot.  A wristwatch is not going to have a material effect.

I used to take my watch off, but since buying a Garmin S1, I have worn it.  It is quite light and I have to say that I actually like having it there.  Dont really know why, but it feels natural.  I guess it is because I wear a watch almost every other waking moment.

Well, it could be the millions of dollars watch companies pay the pros to endorse their product(s).

I have a tag that I always have on when I play and never even notice it. I did get one with a rubber band so it doesn't slide on my wrist because I have one with a steel band that slid and it bothered me.

Exactly, i have seldom worn a watch for years, about the only time is when im mowing the yard(just finished about 45 minutes ago) because i leave the phone inside.    I have seen a gps watch, that idea kinda intrigues me as my phone is ancient and it wont do apps but i like it because its small and fits easily in my pocket and i dont want to buy a new one.  I would probably just take the gps watch off and either attach it to my bag or put it in my pocket, a compact gps unit would probably be more practical.

I take mine off because I see no reason to risk it getting broke, either by the motion of my swing (albeit that would be very hard to do) or by some other happenstance, such as getting hit by a ball.  My watch usually stays in my car.  I'm not worried about the heat getting to it.

    • Day 37, June 10.  Today was primarily WFH, so I had several practice sessions (indoors, off a mat, into the net).  At least one each of U, 9, and 6-iron full swings with the usual priority.   I also tried a few times a putting type stroke with my 4H, as something I should probably learn how to hit (and what it does), but the mechanical shot at home off a mat doesn't tell me much of what it's doing.  That's something I should probably try on a real green, not during a round until I've tried it.
    • Day 10 (10 Jun 26) - Played in the midweek shootout at my home course - on aerated and sanded greens - day of trying to figure tempo to get the best roll on the greens.  Approach game was decently solid as was shots off the tee.
    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
