I just started playing golf seriously this year and haven't started emulating anyone yet.  I'm sure that will change as time progresses since I'm guilty of doing it with tennis.

try to emulate Luke Donald.

Such a sweet swing, and his demeanor and poise on the course is one of the best on tour.

Keeping my composure and a clear, confident, mind is my main key to a good round.

Theres always someone… (rolls eyes)…

In my Ogio bag.

Titleist 910D2 driver, Adams irons & hybrid, Callaway wedges & a Nike Method putter.

And a yellow ball.

Im seeing a pattern… lots of people said Couples. And I agree, I love watching him swing a golf club. I try to copy his tempo and rythm, but thats about it. His hands just seem too relaxed for me. My swing mechanics are built on JB's swing. Not that Im purposefully trying to copy him, it just worked out that way, with direction from my instructor. And since it does seem to work for me Im now paying more attention to his swing. But JB even has a much quicker tempo than Couples, and I cant play with a quick swing, it messes me up.

No one golfer is a mirror image of another. Even on tour. That's what makes golf an individual game. And what I was getting at is that I thought almost everyone had something in their swing that they emulated a pro with. If you dont, thats cool. I personally find it hard to believe, but whatevers clever. The rest of you have some pretty cool answers and explanations. Just what I was curious about…

I agree Luke has a great swing.  I would also put Justin Rose in that catagory.  Both of their swings look like flawless and effortless.

I live in the Philly area, and I'm excited to go to the AT&T; National at Aronimink this year to see Justin defend.  I couldn't make it out there last year.

I learned the game from and have always played most with my Grandpa and my Dad whom are both good golfers so i guess those two... pretty cliche.

A lot of aspects of my game I try to emulate Tiger Woods, because he was so big as I was learning the game. Throw in some Phil Mickelson for the short game. I went with a Phil Mickelson style putting for a while as ordered by my hs golf coach ughhhh. Still not sure why he insisted that I switched since I was good at putting anyways, but now i am back to more of standard putting style.

I've been trying to copy Sergio Garcia's swing for years. Stupid reason, it looks cool and length. Not even close unfortunately.

Steve Stricker becuase I really try and focus on hitting my irons well, and making good iron shots. Also Tom Watson, Just love the way he carries himself along the course. He kind of strolls and it just looks so natural when he does everything golf related. His swing/putting stroke just look natural.

I tried to emulate Seve and Tom Watson because I missed a lot of fairways and green starting out, but never considered myself out of a hole until the other player's ball dropped into the cup. I chipped close and sank more one putts years ago. I lost a lot more balls too.

A few years ago I started watching how taller players who hit a long ball approached the game (Ernie, Price, DL III, and now Cink, Woodland, etc). I hit a lot more irons and 3-woods off the tee for positioning than most people I play with. I'm learning to love 6 - 8 iron approaches rather than trying to get every last yard off the tee. I also keep in mind where taller players tend to struggle so I work on distance control and my wedge game a lot.

When learning the game I tried to emulate Jack. But I wasn't built like him so I emulated his approach to the game. I was more a Johnny Miller type of player. Over the years I've played like Couples on Irons, and Seve when in the woods. But now, after 35+ years, I play my game using cues from a long list of players. I only try to emulate Daly on the range when I could use a sprained back.

No one really, but I do like Tom Watson and waggle the club at address like him to start my shot. I'm a little younger than him, but close and have a similar build.

I don't really try to emulate swings but I do have a tendency when I have a wedge in hand to think of Tiger. His posture, how he attacks the greens. Other than that, I'm just me.

I've never tried to copy anyone really. When I was a kid I probably had ambitions to look pure and silky like Seve and Greg Norman but I've never kidded myself into believing that I looked anything like them.

I really tried to find a professional body double when I first started out, hoping to emulate a swing that was obviously working for somebody.  For a while, between my body type and handedness Mike Weir was my only option.  After a few lessons and allowances for personal quirks, though, I've drifted quite a way away from that starting point.  I have long gangly arms, so Elkington might be a decent model (5'9", 73.5" wingspan.  Fricking gibbon.)

(Lately I have just let my gibbon arms be gibbony... this has resulted in ridiculously low hands at address.  Think knee-level.  Decent results and a quick wrist cock, though... so...)

In summary, I have no idea what I'm doing.
