I have no frame of reference with the Roger quote but I do agree that the media go WAY over the top for Rory (especially over on this side of the pond!)

Having said that though I've been a big admirer of Rory for years and stuck with liking him and seeing a bright future so I'm happy it's coming to fruitition. :-)

Nah it looks like he's 'jarred' it. If he can get through today I reckon it'll be fine by tomorrow as if there was anything really bad he'd have quit by now, whether through his own view on it, his caddy's, physio #1 or physio #2. :-)

Not that it matters much but it was Curt Schilling with the bloody sock, not Roger Clemens.

Haven't seen any TV coverage yet. Is the course playing that tough today? Seems like some really wild scoring fluctuations. Bubba Watson shooting a 42 on the front 9?!?

I agree. They completely forgot to show us where Rory's tee shot on 12 went.

Shaun Micheel playing well.

Say him on the golf fix. Actually knew the ball flight laws. Nice guy too - glad he's doing well.

Great showing by the Wisconsin boys today: Stricker shot a 63 and Jerry Kelly shot a 65.  Horrible round for Ishikawa though, he shot an 85!

I was really hoping Dustin and Rickie would play better than that, hopefully they turn it around tommorow.  Right now im cheering for Davis Love and Stricker, Steve seems like such a a nice guy.

    • I tried this again today. Again, I used the random picker app on my phone and I set the targets into my SC4. I used carry distance not total distance.  I did everything the same except today I decided to print out my actual shot distances for you.  Target Club Actual Difference Score Score vs Par 90 GW 101.4 11.4 Double 2 95 GW 93.9 -1.1 Birdie -1 100 GW 102.4 2.4 Birdie -1 105 GW 100.6 -4.4 Par 0 110 GW 108.2 -1.8 Birdie -1 115 PW 128.3 13.3 Double 2 120 PW 117.8 -2.2 Birdie -1 125 PW 125 0 Eagle -2 130 PW 130.9 0.9 Eagle -2 135 9I 126.7 -8.3 Bogey 1 140 9I 139.2 -0.8 Eagle -2 145 8I 125 -20 Double 2 150 8I 138 -12 Double 2 155 7I 156.7 1.7 Birdie -1 160 7I 172.1 12.1 Double 2 165 6I 168.3 3.3 Par 0 170 6I 177.6 7.6 Bogey 1 175 6I 169.7 -5.3 Par 0 Average miss     -0.18 yards     Av of Absolute     6.03 yards                       Total is one over par.   1 I did much better today in terms of hitting some close enough to make some eagles. The eagles really help your score.  The average miss is just the difference between target and actual carry distance, which I guess could be used to see if I'm more likely longer or shorter. Looks like I'm about equally off long and short. The average of the absolute valve of my misses kind of tells me how close to the target I usually am.
    • If the PGA Tour wants to distance itself from the integrity of the Official Rules of Golf, then fine.
    • PGA Tour amending rule on incorrect scorecards (aka the Jordan Spieth rule), effective immediately Jun 18, 2024 | 8:31 AM Good change. Ok, lemme have it die hards!
    • Amazing US Open to watch. Of course I was rooting for Bryson, but a little part of me wanted a W for Rory. Hope this fuel Rory to win a major soon.  Interesting to see how much is going to take for Aberg to win his first major.  Scheffler is human, thank god.. we need more tight final rounds like this.
    • This discussion and Bryson’s media figure reminds me of a trend you see all over the place in social media and Internet in general: staging. I don’t use Instagram a whole lot, but enough to come across videos that are obviously staged, but presented as happening randomly. It falls in like with the “fake news” part of the world where you can’t trust anything. People (influencers, celebrities, politicians etc.) throws stuff out all the time that are straight up lies, pretending ignorance, or twisted to make it sound more interesting than it actually is. Then there’s the overreactions. Youtube and Instagram are filled with thumbnails of shocked content creators “LOOK WHAT HAPPENED 🫣😲🫣”, then it’s some staged or stupid shit. I miss the time when most of what you found online was not staged or stupid. The sad part is that it works, generate clicks, ad revenue and people make millions on that stuff. At least Bryson is primarily a professional golfer. Bryson raking the 18th bunker while holding the trophy puts more of his face in the media. There’s no reason to do it, but it makes for some good photos and he’s building his persona. From the entire week you can see how he interacts with the audience way more than most of them out there. Part of it is probably just being Bryson and giving the audience something extra, but I always have the thought in the back of the head that it’s not the entire reason. Players being emotional, engaging and showing more of themselves than hitting a golf ball is good, but at some point you cross the line into being fake for the sake of attention.
