So, on a similar note, how much is he getting paid to fly all the way over to the JBWere Masters in Australia in November?

Does he still command a AU$3 million appearance fee?

Or does he just think " Oh I'll fly over for a week-long knock-about and keep my game sharp ?"

He's actually committed to the Australian Open this year, but it doesn't change the point. There's an appearance fee; it may not be $3 million like it was in '09, but there is some financial incentive for a player of Tiger's stature. It's a business investment for the tournament organizers: they don't just want to have Tiger in the Australian Open field, they want Americans to know that New South Wales has some of the greatest golf courses in the world, and that it's well worth planning a golf vacation around Sydney. The Johnnie Walker doesn't just want Tiger in their field, they want Americans to start buying hospitality suites and ticket packages for the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.

Probably a lot, but I have no idea what the number of dollars is. Probably less than in 2009, I suspect, though I think he made the agreement to go over there pretty early in the year.

That is the problem with this whole thing...just seems like in latter years, its all about the money. He needs to get his ass out there and get reps in if he wants to regain his #1 title ever again, let alone just winning some golf tournaments. Hell, he needs to enter some lower level tournaments in general just to play well and get his confidence back up.  Screw appearance fees...if you gotta play, go play.  I can't imagine, for the life of me, Tiger being in any form of financial "hardship" for the next 3-5 years. If he is, he has invested very poorly and has squandered all his money, which most prominent and rich celebrities tend to do. Pretty pathetic and sad.

I am glad I read that Fred Couples basically said, for him to be an option for the Presidents cup, he needs to play another event prior to the Australian Open.

You should've seen the crowds at the Australian Masters last year. My mates brother was playing in the group in front of Tiger and there were crowds 10 deep. He actually hit balls on the range next to Tiger too. The following was like nothing I'd ever seen.

I dont see anything wrong with people paying big somes of money to entice Tiger to play in their tourney's.

I think its a win win, Tiger gets to gets to make headlines for something positive and perhaps improve his game, the tourney sells tickets and increases TV ratings.

Tiger Woods, good bad or average is still the biggest draw in golf.

How long do you think it'll be before folks start not turning up to watch him hacking it around?

He's totally in denial and he and his followers really need a reality check and should admit he's right back to 'Square-1'.

He's ineligible for the PGA Tour play-offs and should go to tournaments that are good for his game , not just events that are willing to pay him inflated appearance fees.

The man has won 14 major championships: if the public is welcome, people will always show up to watch him play. Thousands would show up tomorrow for a Nicklaus-Trevino exhibition match between two septuagenarians, so a still-prime Tiger playing at 60% isn't going to keep fans away. Tiger is probably in a bit of denial. He went through two previous swing overhaul without missing a beat, but things are coming easy for him this time. He'd probably prefer to spend the rest of the year playing money games at Isleworth against John Cook and Mark O'Meara, but that isn't going to get his new swing battle-tested for tournament play, where 10,000 fans will be flanking the fairways watching his every move. He's not the only perennially elite player having a bad year. Els is having a bad year, Singh is having a bad year, Harrington is having a bad year. Those guys are all trying to play their way out of slumps, and now healthy, Tiger needs to do the same. Still, it's ridiculous to say he should be turning down appearance fees. We're not talking about this issue as though Tiger is refusing to play unless someone writes him a seven-figure check. Appearance fees are commonplace at international tournaments to attact top players from other tours. Tiger doesn't have to solicit these offers, and he's far from the only person who receives them. Rule 1 of entrepreneurship is to get people to pay you for something you'd do for free. Tiger needs to play more tournaments; what difference does it make if someone is willing to write him a check for it?

Come on, man....Els, Singh, Harrington, Garcia, etc - those guys are done. Guaranteed.
They're as likely to win any major tournaments today as Couples, Love III, Price, Duval, etc would 5 years ago.

There's time to smell the coffee and wake up... golf's moved on ...

Would you seriously put money on Woods to win anything between now and September 2012?

If so, then you might as well join Iacas ' 'Drew Bundini-Brown' Club...

I'm not in business of making such speculative bets, but I know much better than to count him out. I'm also not one to think Tiger should ignore the rules of logic and economics to satisfy the critics who want to tear him down. Also, you might want to let Sergio know that he's finished. After three consecutive major finishes of 12th or better this year, he'll be shocked by the news. Same for Ernie and Paddy, who are both younger than Darren Clarke, and whose games are nowhere near the nadir Clarke was at a few years ago. Heck, Davis Love (top-10s in majors each of the last two years) still needs to receive the memo that he washed up from 2006.

Yeah sergio is having a great year. he's only played 13 events and made 12 cuts with 3 top 10's and 8 top 25's. He also lost in a playoff at the BMW open too.

Come on man...this whole "I'm here to win...I'm here for the 'W'...I feel great...I'm hitting great shots...I'm a better player than I was 10-years ago..it's a work-in-progress...blah-blah-blah ' BS that we hear month after month...

He's either saying what Steiny/Nike want him to say,, conference-after-conference, to keep as many people on-side as possible or...he's in total denial.

Or both.

No no...I mean there's been a changing-of-the-guard in the last 12-18 months...just like there was in the late '90s.

    • Day  3 (4 May 24) - Easy pitch day with 9i in the backyard.  Worked on staying smooth thru impact, keeping shots to 20yds or less.
    • From what I’ve read, it was in the manufacturing process and how the covers were nicking pretty easy.  He has had to resource his factory as the one used earlier is now a TM owned facility.  Initial reports seem to indicate the redesign is going to be a winner…
    • Day 129: 5/4/24 Stack training but could not certify my warmup speed. Dealing with a pulled neck muscle. Chips and pitches at a local course for about 15 minutes.
    • Typically less than 50. I find this can be affected by the "CART" signs on a given course. I don't like taking my rangefinder out of the cart and carrying it around to the green. I am very fearful I will leave it somewhere.
    • First ever holed out greenside bunker shot! It's crazy it took this long to finally get one during a round, but the cold streak is officially over. Hole 6 on the Palmer Course at PGAN. I hit my driver like 225 into a really stiff wind, then worm burned a hybrid into the bunker. I was about I dunno, 40-45 feet away. Birdie! Let's go! The red Xs the approximate location of each shot.  Really fun!!
