Who wins the BSC this year?

I'm such a homer so I'm picking the Badgers but OU looks pretty good.

Huskers could be awsome on defense, maybe best in the nation. Unfortunately OL is only fair and not very explosive on offense. First year schedule in big 10 is brutal. If they find a WR and backup RB and OL improves could win division and be a darkhorse top 5 team. I believfe Oklahoma, Alabama and Oregon are the top 3 with Wisconsin and Nebraska coming next. Badgers lucked out getting quaterback transfer

It looks an awful lot like another strong SEC season. LSU looked great against Oregon. Alabama is going to be tough this year in all phases, and there are some surprises in store for us somewhere in the South Carolina/Florida camps I'd reckon. Auburn is a mere shadow of last year without Newton and Fairley. Georgia looked worse than they should be, and I think we're all in a wait and see on Ole Miss, Tennessee and Arkansas. Looking forward to seeing Oklahoma play. Wouldn't that be a kick to see a Big XII team go big after their conference got kicked around this offseason? Texas needs a QB to compete seriously. Nebraska might surprise a few folks, as might Missouri. I see little to get excited about in the ACC, Big East or BigTen (12) this year. Yes, Ohio State beat Akron, but I'm not sure they can recover to be contenders. Iowa keeps getting close, but they can't seem to keep the talent pipeline full. Wisconsin looks pretty good, I think. Need to watch more tape. PAC 12 looks to be all Ducks. Even in their loss to a very good LSU, they appear strong. USC was unimpressive against Minnesota. Not much else out there at the moment. Boise might be the team out west to make noise aside from the PAC, but they should have beaten UGA a little more handily, I think.

Coach Saban has finally gotten Alabama to a depth that rivals the old Coach Bryant teams.  Other teams may equal our first team skill, but very few - if any - can match the depth we possess.  This team reminds me of the 2009 team that was still smarting from the losses to Florida and Utah that spoiled the year.  Last year's disappointments, coupled with the tragedies of the past few months have brought this team closer together, and I can't see them letting anything distract them from their goals.  The offensive line is taking "the blame" for only beating Kent State 48 - 7.

Oh yeah... and Auburn sucks.  If they play like they like they did against Utah State the rest of the year, they may not win a single SEC game and that 36 - 0 beating we gave them in 2008 may seem like a close game.  In the West, they may beat Ole Miss... that's it.  Mississippi State's offense is going to run through them like spoiled Mexican food and warm beer.

I'm not normally spiteful when it comes to competition, etc.  But I have to say I take MUCH delight in Notre Dame continually being overrated and losing to sub-par teams.

Michigan State's D is looking solid, Wisconsin is going to be a powerhouse, Nebraska looks shaky...probably not a real top ten team yet.  Iowa had no business losing to ISU.  Here's looking forward to week 3.

As an SC fan, I completely agree with you. Right now, SC is inconsistent and with Monte Kiffin as DC, I would expect more from our defense. Offense looks good despite some miscues against Utah, but the team is still young.

The Pac12 is basically Stanford or Oregon. Both have good offenses, but Oregon has a slew of good players on offense while Stanford is just Andrew Luck. For the first Pac12 conference championship game, I'd pick Oregon vs Utah (because Utah doesn't have to play either Oregon or Stanford in their schedule).

As for the rest, if Bama and LSU are still undefeated, then their game on Nov. 5 should be a good one to watch. Personally, I'd take LSU over Bama but because they're equally as good, it's a coin flip. Whoever wins this game goes to the BCS title game.

There really seems to be a lack of teams ready to challenge for a spot in the top 5... With scholarship limits, early graduation, better non bcs teams, and current dependence on quarterback play, the landscape has changed. By the middle of October some of the freshmen and sophmores will develop and the challengers will emerge. Right now Okies, LSU, ALA, Boise, Wisc., with Ore., and Ark., maybe in the mix later would be my guess. I root for Neb., but o line is too young and quarterback is reaaly a RB. Tust me defense will be very good by WISC. game. Every Pellini defense has early hiccups.

We'll know a lot more about OU after this weekend's game against Florida State.

Haven't seen OU do well on the road in a while. Beating Baylor last season doesn't count (since they *should* beat Baylor), and they really just barely snuck by OSU (giving up way too many points -- entertaining as all heck, but...).  OU will be good this season for sure, but I'm not sure that they'll get to "great".  Again, I may have a slightly different take after the weekend.

Well, Auburn finally got exposed.  Once Clemson settled down, they did exactly what I thought Mississippi State would do last Saturday.

Alabama's kicking situation makes me nervous.  So does the quarterback situation, but I don't think we'll see any more of Phillip Sims except in mop up duty.  I guess that means, in some twisted way, that I hope to see a lot of Sims this season.  One thing I am looking forward to is a heavy dose of Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy.  I don't think there is a better running back tandem in the country right now.  Both have showed the ability to run over a defense, as well as out-run a defense.

With Oklahoma St, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech putting in requests to move to the Pac12, does anyone else think smaller conference teams should move to higher profile conferences to make "Super" conferences?

GO BADGERS!!!

The first Big-10 game on the schedule might decide it all. Nebraska vs Wisconsin at Madtown! Should be awesome

Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated

In my opinion this is all about conferences positioning themselves to maximize the value of the new conference TV networks. There is no real is advantage to expanding beyond 12 teams since that makes championship games possible except TV marketing. If small TV marekt schools like Iowa State etc. have an opprotunity to join a BCS conference they will take it, but the may not get the opprotunity.

At this point it seems likely they will play twice. Right now Wisconsin would have to be favored by 7-10 points. I am hoping Nebraskas young team will improve enough to win a rematch.
