My daughter wanted to stay up and watch the game with me (and her fussy baby brother) but zonked out before the end of the 5th. I must have looked like a mime doing silent shouting in the 9th and in extra innings.

Congrats to St. Louis, I was rooting for them in the end (mostly because now there's a slightly better chance Texas gets disassembled).

Congrats to the Cards... this will definitely go down as the series that Texas gave away... to have the series all but wrapped up in game six twice and then an early lead in game seven and still loose it has to hurt.

I hadn't watched a game of the playoffs until Game 6 since I'm a Mets fan (I know) and once football starts I'm conditioned to forget that there's still a baseball season.  I didn't watch all of game 6 but as I was heading to bed I thought I'd check the boxscore.  It was bottom of the 8th, Rangers were winning 7-5 and Pujols was on 2nd.  I hit refresh a few times and the Cardinals were threatening so I switched on the television and watched the Cards not only comeback in the 8th, but the 9th too.  What an awesome game and finish.  Both teams deserve props for a great series, it's one I'll never forget.

Did anyone else think that Cruz should have caught Freese's triple in the 9th in game 6? I wouldn't say he was dogging it, but he surely wasn't going full tilt (maybe afraid of ramming into the wall?).
I hadn't watched a game of the playoffs until Game 6 since I'm a Mets fan (I know) and once football starts I'm conditioned to forget that there's still a baseball season.
At least you got to see 1986 rehashed a millions of times not only with the 25th "anniversary" but with the discussion of the greatest game sixes of all time.

I never saw Cruz play before so I didn't have a point of reference but it didn't look like he gave it his best effort.

As for 86 Mets yeah, but was a bit depressing that Bill Buckner was our MVP for the series. '86 Mets should have been the start of a dynasty but they spun out of control similar to what it sounds like happened to the 2011 Red Sox.

There sure was a big difference in how Cruz (mis)played Freese's ball, and how Craig immediately sprinted back to the fence to rob a homer in game 7.

Some guys are in the lineup for their bat (Cruz).  Others for their defense.  The good/great ones can do both.

C'mon Theo! Revive them Cubbies!

I think the Cubs will find that Theo, as great as he did for the Red Sox, it ultimately replaceable by guys who think like him. That's why I'm no so mad about his departure. The Red Sox need to find a way to get rid of Larry Lucchino (who I blame for the Lackey and Crawford signings, and whose contract is up).

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
