1. More time to practice.

2. Give more focus on the instruction given.

3. Long patience.

you are on the right track - practice, practice & patience are a good formula - it doesn't come easy & it takes work, but the reward is worth it.     It's always a good thing to play golf with your pop ...

I want to develop and maintain a routine.

I want to be able to hit every club with confidence.

I want to enter either the 5, 6 or 7 flight in our city championship and be in the hunt.

I want to hit a 500yd+ par 5 in 2.

My goals for 2012 are pretty simple... improve my ball-striking by making my Stack & Tilt swing as automatic as possible and getting my shaft leaning forward at impact.  I do feel like I'm making progress with my limited practice schedule - six-month old daughter and starting graduate school - since I can't make myself sway the way I used to.  I can feel my confidence increasing as I continue to groove my swing.

3 things for 2012: 1) become a more consistent ball striker with my irons. I hit my driver and fairways with more consistency and confidence than my irons, but those aren't the clubs you're trying to hit greens with. 2) get my handicap to 12. Crept up from 14 to 16.2 this year, 3) shoot my all time low score by breaking 80 - currently an 82 on a good course.

My primary goal for 2012 is to play golf. Regularly. I moved in late August for a new job and have played one 9-hole par-3 "round" since. I've been to the range maybe three times, tops. And there's a supposed-to-be fantastic course just down the road from me. I also intend to regularly brave the cold (by my standards), assuming this is possible. Secondary is to join a golf club and play with them. I loved my previous one and it's one of the few things I really miss of my former home. Third is to improve, although I don't know where I really am at this moment, so I can't quantify this. But it involves ceasing the camera shyness, filming my swing, and posting it online - between making a "my swing" thread and using Erik's online video instruction, I should have something a year from now that I can look at and say "yes, I improved." Fourth isn't so much a goal as a promise - back to regular visits at TST. I've noticed my golf quality and quantity are correlated to how much time I spend here. Plus I really like this site.

But his time, I want to keep tabs on these goals and really see them through. I posted in last years thread and have no idea how I went through the year.... (time to check that out!)

The other day I realized that I was neglecting my music in favour of mediocre golfing... So my readjusted goals for 2012 are;

  • Practice less, but play about the same
  • Take golf less personally, but still aim to improve if only slightly
  • Shoot a new personal best
  • Putt per hole 1.8 (2.0)
  • Putt per GIR 1.9 (2.2)
  • Win a Thursday or Sunday comp!
  • Complete my album and be at least half-way through my second one by years end!!!

I think that about covers it!

My 2012 Goals will focus on my long game which is my biggest source of frustration and extra strokes (and penalties).

1. More consistency with my driver. Limit bad drives two 2 per round.  Good drives are in the fairway or a "good miss."

2. More consistency with my 3h, 4h, and 5h hybrids. 9 out of 10 are solid hits or "good misses" (I don't think I have the swing speed to be real consistent with my 2h.)

3. Learn to hit a fairway wood (4W or 5W)  off the fairway so that I can use it on the course with 3 out of 4 solid hits or good misses.

4. Take at least 8 lessons and signup for Evolvr. (I have no major equipment purchases planned so will put more money into golf instruction.)

Driver:  Callaway Diablo Octane iMix 11.5*
Fairway: Cobra Baffler Rail F 3W & 7W
Irons:  Wilson Ci
Wedges:  Acer XB (52* & 56*)
Putter:  Cleveland Classic #10 with Winn Jumbo Pistol Grip

My goal for 2012 will be to get my handicap down into single digits. I did a lot of experimenting this past summer trying out a new driver and 3 wood as well as 2 different sets of irons. I learned a lot, but it didn't help my game any. I got down to a 12.7 at one point but finished the year at 13.1. I want to be down into single digits by early spring next year.

2 Make more one-putts, and leave a miss close and an easy makeable putt

3 Straighten out my drives, be able to play a soft draw from time to time

4 Manage the course better

4 Learn the S&T; swing for iron shots

My goal for 2011 was to average in the mid/low 90's and break into the 80's. By July I was averaging in the high 80's.

My goal for 2012 is to average in the mid 80's and break into the 70's. I already know my short game is going to have to improve for that to happen. I got a few new clubs to start working with  (2 new wedges, and r11, and a ghost putter). I really didn't hit the driving range much in 2011 but played 60 or so rounds. So this year I plan on getting to the range when I can to work on the new clubs and get out to golf at least the same amount as I did in 2011.
