How much was that, and how big is it? Just curious since I don't ever trust a word one of those meatheads at GNC says.

For the record, you never need 3 scoops of that. Your body can't even absorb 60g of whey protein at one time. It'll turn half of that into fat.

As far as arm pain, ice it and see how it is in a couple days. Could just be your body reacting to something it isn't used to. Prepare to be sore at first...it takes a lot longer to recover from workouts when you first start, but that time goes down quickly as you continue.

Cost $50 and it was 3lbs.

Pain in my arm has gone away.

Unfortunately I'm at my mom's until a week and change so no working out.  Will likely have to just concentrate on eating good foods except on my cheat day which is Sunday (go go gadget football)!

I'd be careful with the pain in your arm after curls. A lot of golfers elbow is due to lifting weights rather than from playing golf.

That's how I got my golfer's elbow about two years ago. I am over it now but it's pain in the a$$ having golfer's elbow. (No pun intended)

Yeah, I just think I tried to start with too much weight and strained myself as I forced myself to finish it.  Definitely going to do less weight on curls while still having it be challenging.

As for this protein talk, I'm not getting anywhere near as much protein in a day that I need.  The closest I've gotten to my goal of 193g is 155g.  Never realized how tough it is to get a lot of protein in a diet.

5x5 clean and press 115

10x5 back squat at 135

5x5 clean and press 95

100 gke

50 push ups

First time I've filmed myself squatting, this was the 5th set.

Gangsta! B-)

Man, that's why I don't trust GNC. For future reference, ON 100% Whey is $59 for 5 lbs.

Ha, nice.

Mike's a good dude to look up to as someone starting out. Should have seen him a year and a half ago...looked like he'd never lifted a weight before. (Sorry Mike, I just mean you're inspirational lol)

Thanks. I lost 50lbs from last September to May of this year just working out with kettlebells and tracking my calories. Then I wanted to get stronger and "repair" my metabolism so I started learning barbell stuff and eating more. I'm still very much a beginner when it comes to this stuff but have learned from some smart people.

Ha, thanks. You probably saw me at my heaviest, I was 220lb. And you're right, never did any lifting, some in college but that was just dumbbells.

220 was your heaviest? I think 225 is the lightest I have been in the last 10 years, haha. What are you at now?

I got down to 167, and I'm now 176. I'm probably going to gain a couple more pounds and then get back on the diet in mid February.

As usual on Mondays, I trained legs.

I always start my workouts with 20 push-up but using my fists and 12 pull-ups.

Then did

- Leg press

- Leg extension

- Hip abductor

- Stiff legged deadlifts

- Calves

Quick session cause I train leg twice a week.

I bought a 10 pound sledgehammer & then grabbed a free tire from craigslist.

I just hit the damn tire until i get tired.

So far my favorite workout ever.

Do you practice your "lag" while you are doing it?

    • Thanks Bill, Really appreciate the tips! I'm hoping between side saddle putting and working on the Jim Venetos swing I'll drop some shots off my typically mid-90's score.
    • Thinking about seeing if our local course will make divot repair part of the annual youth camp….and I love @dennyjones comment to stick ‘em to the carts.   Sadly a lot of the older guys are not stable enough to bend down and make a good repair - so they just let them be or just do the putter tamp.  We also have one member who shuffles his way on and off the green - soft spike marks everywhere….
    • The lie is not really adjustable.  The PGA states that it must have at least 10 deg angle (not sure on the exact #) all of these putters came with the minimum allowable angle from vertical.  This is why the corners are beveled off.  The sole of the club is not intended to sit flat on the ground. Having said all this, the only way to change the angle is to bend the silver piece that the shaft is glued in to. In use: 1. Hold the putter with your top hand and let it dangle 2. the beveled edge will be the closest part to the ground 3. place bottom hand much like holding a pencil 4.  Club should swing forward and back freely but not hit your foot.  If it does then you need to move you top hand outward. 5. Do not manipulate the club path. straight forward and back 6. I keep my top hand tight on the putter.  My bottom hand twists the putter counter clockwise against my top hand.  This keeps the face from opening up. Good luck.  I have been using mine for close to 10 years.  I average 1.7 putts/hole (yes I have statistics on every hole I play) Bill
    • Day 29 (19 Feb 25) - Winter storm in place (here it's cold icy rain), inside day today - started with mirror work and 8i - working on weight shift sequence using shortened swing (backswing to P3) and coming through to P8.  Focused on sensing the shift to the lead foot as I get toward P3 and then coming through smoothly.  Followed up those series of rehearsals with some easy lag putts working to equalize backswing length with downswing finish to 3' - 5' - 8' distances.
