How about this guy, Jeremy Lin?

For those of you who have not been witness to Linsanity, here's the scoop: undrafted out of Harvard (after receiving zero Division I scholarship offers upon leading his high school to the California state title), Lin was cut by the Golden State Warriors during the preseason to make room for a free agent center. He's picked up by the Houston Rockets, only to be cut again the eve of the season opener. The New York Knicks then claim him off waivers, but doesn't see much playing time as the third-string point guard. The Knicks sent Lin to the D-League a few weeks ago; after he scored a triple-double in his first game, the Knicks called him back.

Anyway, last Saturday, Lin experienced his first significant playing time for the Knicks against the New Jersey Nets; coming off the bench, he led the Knicks with 25 points. He started at point guard Monday versus the Utah Jazz, and scored 28 points. In Washington on Wednesday, Lin scored a double-double against the Wizards: 23 points, 10 assists. Finally, against the Los Angeles Lakers on national television Friday night, he has his best performance yet, scoring 38 points.

This week, Jeremy Lin has averaged 28.5 points and 8 assists per game. The Knicks have won four consecutive games, and have played themselves back into playoff contention, despite losing Carmelo Anthony to a groin injury, despite Amare Stoudemire being inactive after the death of his brother, and despite their expected starting point guard, Baron Davis, still not having played this season due to a back injury. The question now, I suppose, is how long can Jeremy Lin keep this up?

I'm not sure how long it's going to last, but man is it going to be fun to watch. Especially if he keeps beating the Lakers.

It's absolutely great to watch and the Lakers game was the first NBA game I've watched in years. I'm guessing he can keep it going until they play the heat or whoever and someone like Lebron says I'll cover him. He won't be able to handle the range of a bigger player guarding him based on what I've seen but I hope he keeps it going for a long time.

He's a point guard though, and not a lot of guys LeBron's height have the quickness Lin and LeBron have. Lin is not a physical specimen by any means, but his quickness and agility are his big strengths.

He is very fast, deceptive, and a great passer from what I've seen, so i think he will remain good, though he might not be scoring all the points for long if big guys guard him. He'll probably get fewer baskets and more assists as time goes on.

I agree which is why I said a Lebron type, kind of like how Scotty Pippen used to shut down good point guards in his day. Lin will still have big games but he will be guarded by better defenders when it counts. I also agree that his point total may fall off but his overall ability will keep him on the floor.

Question is, will they keep this line up?

Only possible reason would be to change it when Baron Davis is healthy enough to play.  If Lin can maintain his performance level I think Davis will have to win his starting job back.

Someone steps in and plays better than you did, you lose your spot.  Not saying he is going to be a great MBA player but kind of reminds me of ol Tom Brady.  He wasn't highly drafted then comes in and plays lights out.  It is odd though that he went under the radar.  Winning a CA state title.  That has to be a tough state to do it in.

I'm not an MBA fan but that was fun to watch.

He is great for the game of basketball. In the current NBA guard driven league, which is not exciting to watch, Lin is finally able to execute Mike D'Antoni's offense. Knicks have always had sub-par guard play which is why their stars (Melo and Amari) couldn't shine. Lin is Steve Nash and Pistol Pete in one. He has the ability to extend his dribble beyond the play and create more opportunities by becoming another threat player on the floor. He does however turn the ball over quite a bit, but smarter passes with come with experience.

I give up. Do you think the Knicks will take Rondo for him? (Kidding, but only barely. Despite what Dan Shaughnessy may drivel out, Rondo is the best and most important Celtic.)

I love the kid. My concern is how well the offense meshes when both Amarie & Melo come back.
