What is the deal with the PGA tour players these days?  It seems like there is no class anymore.  Tiger is wearing crossing training shoes and Freddy is playing in skateboarding shoes...  Now I understand the crazy tour pros like John Daly and Rickie Fowler who are just after the publicity and airtime...  But for a top notch tour pro like Tiger to dress up nice from head to ankle and then show up in shoes a track star would approve of?  I think the PGA needs to address their apparel guidelines on tour.

Tiger and Freddy have to wear the shoes they do becuase of their injuries.

That said, Tiger's shoes do look like something that would be worn at the Special Olympics.

I like Luke's "spats" style shoes:

Never been a fan of trainer style shoes no matter how comfortable or ergonomic or good for the environment they are.
The closest I'd get is what I wear currently; Nike Lunar Controls.

I think its nice to see tour players bucking the trend and shaking things up in terms of golf style.  Not everyone wants to wear khaki and saddle shoes.

Oh brother.

I have no problems whatsoever with Freddie's shoes, Tiger's shoes, Moore's shoes (I actually quite adore Moore's shoes), etc. I never had a problem with Poulter's outfits or shoes, nor the shoes of, well, anyone.

We're equating shoes to how much "class" someone has now? Seriously, fellas, don't click this or you might just swear off the game altogether: http://www.kikkor.com/ .

I have no problem with Ian Poulter and the way he dresses.  Most of the time he is wearing oxford style shoes that are coordinated with his outfit.  He makes it work.  He actually takes time to make his outfit look good.  Now....  Tiger and Freddy's shoes don't look like they fit.  Tiger and Freddy always dress up nice but these shoes don't match the outfit.  Would you wear tennis shoes with a suit?  I don't think so.  If you're wearing nice slacks and a polo, the skateboarding shoes don't go along.  If you're going to wear those shoes why don't you wear some cargo khakis and a baggy tee shirt...  Just saying...

It's a good thing you added those circles.

I agree, I don't really care what shoes these guys wear.  The only location that might take issue with these types of shoes is Augusta, but they only seem to care which way you wear your hat.

You have got to be kidding!  You want to be a fashion police now?  Geez, don't you guys have more important issues to talk about?

Who cares what kind of shoes one wears?  Sounds like Orson Well's 1984.

Just another reason why I like Luke Donald so much.  Dresses like a player should, acts like a player should and plays like a player should.  Tread softly and carry a big stick.

Not that I dislike the others, I am just a sucker for traditional.

If I had to walk 18 holes as often as the pros do, I guarantee you I would find the most comfortable shoes on the market.  Traditional golf shoes are not all that comfortable.  I frankly could not care any less what shoes a pro golfer wears, and think it is rather sad that someone would care.  Although, I do agree with the comment about Tiger's shoes and the special olympics....

I don't have an issue with the shoes.  As long as they aren't open toed (sandals), don't start wearing shorts and denim... I think the game is fine.  I mean Bobby Jones and the earlier years of Golf - they wore dress shirts and ties.  I think that was found to be restrictive and limiting... The same could be said about the golf shoes of yesteryear...  The shoes Tiger is playing with are much more adaptive to his foot/sole and the ground than his previous sleds.

Their shoes? Really?

Who cares?

If I were a tour pro, walking 7-9 miles a day, I'm gonna wear the most damn comfortable shoes I can find. I wouldn't care if they had pink polka-dots on them.

Times are a changing...culture never stands still.

I guess whether it's kikkors or truegolf linkswear or Footjoy Icons, the score at the end of the round will always matter.

    • Couple things to update First on the clubs/ball. I switched golf balls to the Left Dash ProV1x. It seems like a great fit for me. I always need lower spin off the tee, it's about a half club longer into greens, and still gives me enough spin with chips and pitches to hit whatever shot I need. The durability is insane too, played 35 holes with one over my last two rounds and it still looked brand new until I lost it. Hybrid is no longer. Couldn’t quite get a consistent strike and the random snap hook left was always lurking as soon as the strike drifted out towards the toe. I know it was me not the club but I couldn’t stand the lefts anymore. Titliest fitting guy came to our club a few days ago and I had been curious about the T200 3iron. I hit a few with it and the stock HZRDUS graphite shaft, it wasn’t bad at all but I could definitely tell when I mishit it. Then the fitter had me try the U505 3iron. When he asked if I was open to trying it I said something like “Isn’t that the game improvement one?” and he said “Just trust me and hit a few with it”. Within 5 swings I was sold. Suddenly it didn’t look as big and chunky when I started hitting rocket after rocket. It did every single thing I want a 3 iron to do. It flies very high, forgiving, can hit it off the tee and ground, can flight it low when needed, and best of all, it doesn’t go left. He had me try to snap hook one left and it resulted in a nice tight draw, nowhere close to a hook. Tried it with the stock shaft and their upgraded one, ended up hitting it the best with the Graphite Design Tour AD IZ-95. Ended up getting a great deal on a used one that arrived yesterday so going to go measure my numbers with it today at the range. I expect to be using this a lot for 2nd shots into par 5s, being that 230-250 club. Hit some on the Mevo+ yesterday and the distance is exactly what I needed.     From a playing perspective, been playing pretty solid so far this season, driving and putting have been solid overall, approach shots have been good for the most part and short game wasn't great to start the year but it's been getting better lately with some more dedicated practice. Compared to scratch over 7 rounds:
    • so with the driver. Feel more arm  width at A4. keep an in the eye on the ball. The first move from the top is lowering the hands down. Don’t mix that up with looking up at the target as the club comes down from A4 with the body. Feel like I get width with the arms from the chest in the Downswing.

    • Went back and reviewed my rounds this year at my home course to fill out the spreadsheet. Realized I have made at least par on each hole but two that I have bogied. At my skill level, it gives me a new confidence that I can play each hole decently well and strong together a lower score. Great mental boost.
    • I'm at 330 I think. I have a spreadsheet with all of them in it. It helps having lived in two countries. 159 in the US and 136 in the UK. Then a handful in Europe and a few in other countries (Canada, Australia, Mexico).
