How was Tiger's round?....missed it and DVR decided to record my wife's Project Runway marathon instead. It looks like it was pretty windy out there, but how did he putt.

Not great, not bad. He made a few over 12 feet, which is a good sign, but he missed a few under ten feet. His driving was good, his approaches were off, and his short game was erratic. But it's all part of his strategy to get an early tee time, so he misses the worst of the wind. He's moved up the leaderboard quite a few spots since he completed his round.

` Thanks! Yeah its looking pretty tough out there right now. If these guys just stay where they are or even come back a bit, he's got a chance. If he shoots 64 in the morn and puts his name up there near the top, who knows. But I'm not sure Rory is too scared. Especially after that last par save and the shot he just hit into 15. If he takes #1, I don't see him losing it for a long long time! Go Rory!!!

I really like the coverage on tv today. I don't ever remember any sporting event being showed on 2 different networks at the same time. Not that I dislike golf commercials, but keeping up with the leaders and the signature holes at the same time is a neat concept.

It would have made more sense if the Golf Channel feed was streaming online, then you could watch them both at once and you wouldn't have to keep flipping channels.

Does he need an outright win to go to #1, or will runner up suffice?

I believe it is an outright win but I could be wrong

That left the 22-year-old from Northern Ireland could move to No. 4 in the FedExCup standings and become the second-youngest player behind Woods to reach No. 1 in the world this week. He would have to win The Honda Classic to make the move and replace Luke Donald atop the ranking.

I take it Donald isn't playing anywhere this week.

Does anyone know if coverage is being moved up as well?

If they do it the way they usually do it, they'll just show recorded coverage at the scheduled time. Of course, this is not a typical weekend. As far as I know, this weekend was the first time they were showing live action on two different networks (Golf Channel was showing the Bear Trap while its big brother NBC was showing regular coverage) for a non-major, so I guess they'll have to show tape delay on both. The new tee times make no sense to me. OK, they're trying to miss the thunderstorms. But the article that announces the new tee times says they expect the storms at noon, which will be right smack in the middle of the leaders' round. So why not start play at 6:50, like they did Thursday and Friday, instead of 8:30?

Are you literally trying to say Tiger intentionally blew some shots to get an early tee time?

Because if they have a delay, at least the leaders will have gotten holes in, and will thus have less holes to play later when play resumes so they can get things done before it gets dark.

I understand why they moved the tee times up. My question was, why didn't they move them up even more, since they expect the storms at noon? They could have started play nearly two hours earlier than they did, and possibly be finished by noon. They're going to have to show the match on tape delay anyway, so the TV audience isn't a consideration.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
