Played at Ridgewood CC in North Jersey this week. Great old Tillinghast layout where they will play the Barclays this year. What a treat! They have 27 holes and the Barclays will borrow from all three nines, so we didn't play the route the pros will play, but that didn't matter. You can't go wrong on any of the three nines.

Ridgewood West #5. Great hole and an unbelievable green complex. Awesome pin placements.

Ridgewood West #7. Ridgewood has the best bunkers I've seen or played. Very Winged Footish.

Ridgewood East #1, the first hole they will play at the Barclays.

Ridgewood East #3. Par 5, with a green complex that a picture just cannot do justice. The pros will go for this in 2 at their peril.

Ridgewood East #9 and Clubhouse. Beautiful finish to our day. Amazingly, this wonderful green complex is used as a warm-up chipping area for the pros during the Barclays.

That course looks amazing.  BTW, the bold is part (a small part, but still part) of the reason why I've still yet to get out to La Costa and play.  Part of the draw always was that I could play the course the pros play, but once I learned I'd have to play it twice to do that ($$$$), it lost a little bit of the appeal.

Still want to get out there eventually though!!!

The course was a bit flooded this morning. Only about 11 holes were playable.

    • No rain while I was out (9am to 11:30am). Fairly pleasant for a late November day in the Mitten.
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-25 Did the BAD Challenge and hit a bunch more other little shots. This was one of the closer shots.
    • 70 today. The number looks good but, the course is a par 67 (5,110 yards, 64.3/115.). While the 70 took quite a few good shots to achieve, I am not counting that as shooting my age.
    • Played our town’s executive course this morning. Everything is closing but for now Huron Hills remains open. #13 is shaped like an upside down backwards L (dogleg left). Only 231 yard par 4. Dogleg has a tree guarding the corner and a sand bunker guards the green for those cutting the dogleg. Tiny green. About 10 years ago or more I would try to cut the dogleg. The hole is so short that even if one tangled with the tree or was bunkered, par was likely and birdie was still on the table. Now in my 70’s, I just hit it straight and try to wedge it close for birdie. Today I screwed up and pulled my drive. I wandered around a bit when my ball was not in the bunker. Finally located it on the approach to the green. Almost chipped in and tapped in the 2 inches for birdie. Best unintentional shot of the week. 😲
