The 11th at Hayling.

Probably still my my very favourite hole on the course I grew up playing. Valley Golfer, if you don't like this you don't know what you're missing. The tee is actually slightly to the right of where the picture is taken from, meaning you go over the front bunkers and hit the dance floor or you find yourself somewhere very unpleasant. Such can be the wind, I've genuinely played every club in the bag on this hole from wedge to 3 wood.

On a recent trip over to the U.S we went down here,no prize for guessing where.I didn't play only drooled.

Ha, that's my good friend from PHX. We often wear the worst looking golf outfits possible. Stripe shirt, plaid shorts, black saddle shoes, white socks, and big floppy cricket hat is my go-to. I'm planning to kick it up a notch with the paisley/union jack combo.

I'm going to guess "Pasatiempo"? I never played there but that's a cypress tree in front and I know it's located in Santa Cruz near the bottom of the mountain right?

Yeah, it took me awhile to figure it out, if only because you don't usually see pictures from this angle.  They are always up or down the fairway, or looking out over the green from the back, so the background is all Ocean and Carmel.

No, that's 18, looking towards the back left of the green.

(All of the other holes, including 4, - cept 17 - the ocean is to the right side of the hole)

      _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.

      Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.

      I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.

      I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
