I wasn't able to locate a similar thread so I created this one. If I'm mistaken, please close this and point me to it?

Anyway, it was 71° yesterday (here in Northeast Ohio) so I went out and played an early 18 with my father at noon. I shot a 92 which wasn't too bad for the first time out after a 4 month hibernation. Surprisingly, my ball striking was very, very consistent and I was very happy with my short game. Unfortunately, my drives were horrible and had 0 control. I hit 2 fairways and 3 OB. If my chipping was't on, I would have easily been 100+. Thankfully, I never really lose my chipping during the off-season and only need to rehab my Driving.

I may need to beef up my Driver as the 4DX Evolver isn't quite doing it for me. My 'Stiff' shaft also broke last year, so trying to swing an R-Flex at 100-102mph is not working too well for me. I definitely do not have the extraordinary timing that would be required to be accurate with a whippy driver at my comfortable swing speed.

The highlight of my round, besides getting sunburn during the first week of March!, was definitely a birdie. A 258 yard drive, with a major fade that followed the contour of a dog-leg right perfectly and landed me 10 yards from the cup on the fringe of the green. I chipped to within 6 inches and tapped it in. The rest of the day was a complete scramble and battle lol. What made it worse is that my course does not have their Sunday liquor license renewed yet....

Oh well, Father's Day is right around the corner...

I played a spur of the moment round at a crappy muni on Saturday afternoon. It was really warm and sunny here but the winds were pretty extreme and given the course conditions I didn't keep score. BUT, I really enjoyed playing and I'm looking forward to starting the season proper soon. I was striking the ball better than I ever have and I got to use my R11s and loved it. Here's to a great 2012!

The wind has been killer here in Northeast Ohio over the past 3 days. I played 18 on Sunday and shot a 55 on the Front 9, but we did have wind gusts exceeding 40mph. At least we had a beautiful, sunny day @ 80°.

Once the wind died down, I shot 42 on the back to scramble up a respectable 97 (given the 55, I was very happy with a 97).

So far, this weather has been amazing! This is turning out to be a great 2012 golf season so far and it is not even May yet.... hopefully we're not as wet/rainy as last season though. Last season we would be enjoying 80° sunny days during the work week and have torrential thunderstorms roll in just in time for Friday evening and they would last through Sunday evening. The golf gods were definitely pissing us off in Ohio last year!

I got out about a month ago for my first round and it was pretty solid. Played 18 holes on a course I'd never played before.  Shot 45 on the front, 52 on the back. Not bad considering I hadn't even been to a range since November. Lowered my handicap index by a point or so.

Now, the SECOND time out was a different story. Solid start with bogeys and pars for the first 5 or 6 holes, then the wheels fell off. Not my worst round ever, but probably in the 10 worst. We're not talking about that one any more.

In the bag:
FT-iQ 10° driver, FT 21° neutral 3H
T-Zoid Forged 15° 3W, MX-23 4-PW
Harmonized 52° GW, Tom Watson 56° SW, X-Forged Vintage 60° LW
White Hot XG #1 Putter, 33"

I played my first 9 of the year about a month ago.  Shot a 55 on a course I'd never played before.  It was pretty disappointing since back in october, I ended the year with some of my best rounds ever (42, 43, 47, 42).  I've rebounded well since that round and am back in the mid 40's.

First round yesterday....shot a 58-59 on a hot/windy day.  Felt good to get out and swing the sticks so early this year compared to years past.

Shot an 82 over on Sportsmans in Northbrook, IL this past weekend. Psyched that my year is starting off well after conditioning and working on my swing indoors all winter.

Been playing alot - the month of March was awful - never been in such a slump.     I've been working on my 3w & longer irons to try and at least give myself a chance to make birdie on the longer holes, rather than laying up and settling for par - not sure I'm ready for this yet, but there are signs that it's finally coming around ... it's been a totally different strategy.

I actually played my first round on New Year's Day.  It was warm and the course was packed.  Think I shot in the low 90's, which wasn't horrible considering the greens were so hard that I landed a couple shots on the green and they bounced like they hit concrete.  Only played 2 times since then though.  Annual trip is next week in NC, I gotta get out there and play more.

I have not played in about 16 years, got fitted for new clubs , have taken a few lessons....been to the the range a few times, so went Easter weekend and played ......shot 118....did not hit a single good shot period, but did sink two putts of at least 15 to 20 feet on two greens to one putt those .....but I was really feeling disgusted with my game and golf at that point in time.....I know even after 16 years I can play better than that, so went back the following Tuesday and shot a 100 even, and that was losing 2 strokes on the last hole due to my ball landing right against the sand bunker lip, and took 3 shots to get it out.......so felt better, then went Sat to the same course(local city course) and shot 96, feeling better all the time .....starting to strike the ball a little better and more often.....but sure got a long way to go, want to break 90 before winter

First round of the year for me was at Terry Hills (Batavia, NY).  I worked a graveyard shift 10pm-830am, rushed home and showered and then headed to the course quickly to make on time. Shot a 90 .  The next day after a much needed sleep, I played Hunters Pointe (Welland, ON) and shot a 78.  That 78 was my first time breaking 80.  It's a pretty tough links style course, and there were 70mph winds that day...lol figure that one out.

Since then I have shot 4 rounds in the 90s (ugh), and 5 rounds in the 80s.

Looking to break 80 again soon, and hoping to par a course for my first time by the end of the season (we can only golf May-Sept here due to winter).

I like this thread. Mine was in March and I played 9 holes with a friend. I just got a new wedge so I messed a bunch of wedge shots up haha. I ended with a 54 which is usually pretty bad but I wasn't expecting much for my first round.

My first round this year, about a month ago, was a local 9 hole muni (the first local course that opened this year). Shot a 42, which was great. But it may have been my first day out, but I took lessons indoors and practiced indoors in my 'swing room' an hour a day pretty much every day all damn winter.

I played out in Vegas in Feb.  Played Desert Pines the first day, and shot a 103.  Played  the Wolf course at Paiute the next morning at 7:30 on 2 hours of sleep after partying all night, and somehow managed to shoot a 92.

My first round of the season was on February 18th. I shot a 96 (par 66) with a few mulligans. It was the first time I had played in 5-6 years and got me hooked on the game again. I've since played a ton (10 18-holes, 11 9-holes) and just recently shot a 78 on the same course fully playing by the rules. I've been practicing and working on my game a lot.
