He is far more interesting here, than he is when teaching in his dvd ('your feet are like a tsunami"). Still, I wouldn't use him as my putting coach. Hmmm, golf is a mental game. Who would have thunk it? But he is right -- mentally, my swing looks great, but the video says something else. What's Sean's number? I want to hear him say "tsunami."

I love the fact that Sean actually presents in-depth information, and he seems to be much brighter than some of the other big-name guys (lookin' at you Haney, Harmon, and Ledbetter), but man, he gets less out of a minute of talking than anyone. It'd be interesting to see what he could be like if you told him "Sean, don't dumb this down one iota. Tell me exactly what you know in the terms you know it."

Erik, did he just call us a "momentary journalist"? lol

I think Sean does a great job with the "bed side manner" with his students.  I've heard bad things about him and great things about him, depends on who you talk to.  But no doubt he has been great for Hunter and Justin Rose

I've no idea who the best coach on tour is. What's so special about this interview?

Jeez, my only thought was, "He must be a lot smarter than he seems in that video." He rambled on for nine minutes and sounded more like Dr. Phil than somebody who knew anything about golf. And saying Faldo was in the top 5 of all time, which was about the only concrete thing I got out of the nine minutes, didn't help.

All I can say is that Foley seems to have people that admire and like him - or people that have great disdane for him and believe the guy is a thief.

I don't know what is true, and what is not... But I do watch O'hair, Mahan, Rose and Tigers full swings on video and like what I see.  And have yet to get caught up in the spat about where Foley learned his material - etc. etc.

O'Hair left Foley quite awhile ago. A year ago maybe?

I didn't know that.  His swing is fantastic.  Who's he currently working with?

Yeah, May last year after he missed 5 cuts in a row, also fired his caddie Paul Tesori.  Which was weird because I heard from a Foley guy that the Sean's were best friends.  O'Hair is working with Steve Dahlby.  From recent swing's I've seen, it looks very similar, maybe a more elevated left arm on the backswing.

Was he taking a leak at the very end?  What a weird segway:  discussion about working with tour players at a major->awkward encounter with tree branch.

Also, I love statements like, "Just like everything, there's a duality to it."  Really Sean?  Even that statement, or is it the sole exception?

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
