Fair enough. I'm not skeptical, though.

Of course you're not skeptical Shorty, but some people aren't as quick to put their trust into something that seems somewhat unlikely and they might find relying solely on faith difficult.

Webb part of joining is that you have to tuck your shirt into your underwear and have "TST" written on the elastic and a pic taken...sorry rules are rules...

Going in to Augusta, how do you prepare for that level of pressure? The build up for the Masters is a much longer process than the other majors, so I'd imagine you have much more time to plan and prepare for the "pressure cooker" type of environment.

So is there anything different you do in preparation for the Masters vs. any other PGA tour event?

Well, there is actually nothing that can compare to the pressure of the Masters from what I've heard. You just have to put it in the back of your mind and go out there and play the best golf you can. As for preparation, I have already played a practice round with Scott Stallings (his first appearance also) and my caddie Paul Tesorie. Paul is a Masters veteran, being there 10 times before, so we basically went around the course planning what clubs to hit where, and working on short game using old pin placements. For both Scott and I, it was a good learning experience and we are heading down again next week for the final practice rounds and then the actual tournament. In answer to your question, the only difference in preparation for the Masters and any other event is more time to prepare, which allows you to take preparation to the next level there.

Webb, with how the winds swirling around Augusta, what kind of shots will it require, and what is your plan on playing Amen Corner?

Since you mention God numerous times i wonder if you will offer special prayers to your divine character for success in the Master's tourney.  Can you share your thoughts on whether a Muslim golf pro praying on the golf course, during the appointed times, would be welcome on Tour. Thanks and may the best man win. Obviously women are excluded since this is the Master's.  Sorry ladies.

Hi Webb,

I am a Charlotte resident, but originally from the UK (Scotland). Have never seen this chat site before. Was simply looking in at how yourself and other Charlotte based tour guys are doing. Was also intrigued to read an article in the Charlotte Observer by Ron Green (plays at our club Cedarwood) in which he refers to yourself and Johnson Wagner hanging around at Quail Hollow CC. I am a huge fan of the game and particularly in attending the Wells Fargo Championship with my family (my young daughter loves it). Like many Charlotte residents, it is a dream to play Quail Hollow, but I guess I'm not sure how this is possible - or indeed if it is. Wishing you all the very best for the Masters, and whilst you don't know me of course, we'll be at Quail Hollow in May rooting for yourself and the other Charlotte based guys ( I note that a fellow countryman Martin Laird is moving to the area also). Best to your family also.

Welcome Webb.  I'll be cheering for you at the Masters this year, strictly  because you are a member on TST!  Good choice on your part, I've been told I have some miraculous cheering powers.

My question would be what do you think your weaknesses are as a player?  Anything you wish you could change in your game?

^ real Webb Simpson

Hey David, it's nice to here from a fellow Charlottean  and a fan of mine. It is possible to play Quail Hollow, you can be invited to play by a member as a guest, (75 bucks I think), or become a member yourself. I'm was blessed enough to have the ability to become a member of the club and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Johnson Wagner is also a relatively new member there too and we do like to play some rounds together from time to time there, as Ron Green said. As for the Wells Fargo Championship, I think it's a great tournament and it is always fun to play in front of a home crowd; one of the sites  I look forward to each year and hope to continue playing there into the future. Thanks for supporting me at that tournament and thoughts to my family. Best to you and your family as well.

There's a lot of name dropping going on in this thread... :)

So which was it: your mothers fathers name or just a name your parents liked and why on earth didn't you mention your real name?

Hey guys, I am a new member of this forum and thought I'd let you know I signed up. My name is Webb Simpson , I am currently a member of the PGA Tour. I have a great wife and a beautiful child. I have joined Operation Sports because gaming a always been a hobby of mine. I've played NCAA football fro the Bill Walsh days and got stuck to it since I was a young child. I was born in Raliegh, NC, attended Wake Forest University, but currently live in Charlotte, NC. I have jut gotten into the Tiger Woods series the past couple of years and find it to be quite fun. (The only problem is that I'm not in the game lol). So this thread is open for nay dissuasion regarding golf, Tiger Woods 12-13, or whatever you want to ask me. I am always open to discussions with my fans. Thanks

    • Day 48. Got out at lunch to the range to hit some driver shots. Haven’t had much practice there. Focused on setup suggested by @iacas and found some very playable results. I did try to hit a couple of bunker shots after that with much less success 🙃
    • Got a rare birdie on #18 Par 5.  Drive was good and left me in range of the green.  I was @ 210 from the center and needed @ 180 to clear a hazard area.  Green had bunkers lest, right and on back. had been struggling and most shots were short so I took the 225 club figuring back of green hit well. i did hit it well, @ 229 per SS and dead on—kind at the pin.  Ended up @ 1 foot off the back in short rough and lucky for me it was a back pin placement.  Chipped about 15 feet leaving a 3 feet putt for par which I sunk.
    • Yea, so to clarify for me. I do not feel the clubface much in the swing. I feel the weight of the club. I can feel if I hit the club off the heel or toe. When I try to feel if the clubface is open or closed in the swing, I feel it more with my hands, and less of the clubhead. I would classify majority of my swings as not feeling like the clubface does much of all. It feels like I hold the clubface open. In the finish, it doesn't feel like my left hand faces the ground. It feels more like it faces the sky. I will try to be more aware of this, but it was just the sensation I got when I was making what felt like good swings. For the most part, I was hitting slight draws or slight pushes.  On this golf trip, I had to hit a low 8 iron around a tree to the green. I made an alignment adjustment, and actively try to roll my hands a bit more to get it to sling around the corner. I do have a habit of not adjusting how the clubface comes through impact, and I can still hit the ball straight-ish even moving the ball way back in my stance and trying to swing out more.  Yea, my feels are more hands and arms, less actually feeling the clubface.
