I bought a hybrid to replace my 3 iron last fall.  It's essentially replaced the hardest to hit club in my bag with one of the easiest to hit.  I just pulled the trigger on a hybrid to replace my 4 iron now.  Hoping there is a decent yardage gap between them and I didn't just buy a hybrid that goes 5 yards shorter than my other one.  Also hoping it doesn't really balloon the ball.  Who else has multiple hybrids in the sets and what has been your experience in terms of yardage difference between them?  Thanks.

Zero.  I tend to hit my long irons pretty well.  I used to have a Ben Hogan 2 Hybrid, but I just didn't use it that much.

I bought TaylorMade Rescue 11s, 3 and 4, 18* and 21*, this winter and have barely taken the 3 out of the wrapper. I don't even put it in my bag anymore, because I hit it at the range a while back and it is very similar to my 4.

On a side note, I have a new - only hit like 10 times at a range - TaylorMade 3 hybrid, Aldila RIP 60 gram stiff for sale if anyone is interested...

I have three hybrids, 19º, 21º, and 23º.  Used to be I played 90% of my long game with them including off the tee but now I am struggling to hit hybrids, but have improved substantially in hitting my 3w and driver.

Always changing:

I have 2 hybrids, not part of any set.  They are Bridgestone 22° and 25°.  They replace my 4I and 3I.  When I'm swinging normally, they hit straight or with a slight draw.

I play two. A 19* and a 23*. I hit my 19* about 210-215, the 23* goes 190-205. These are two very different clubs, though. The 19 is an Adams super hybrid, which has a pretty long shaft on it, and the 23 is a Cleveland mashie, which is more like an iron, has a decent amount of offset and an aggressive sole. Two different purposes entirely, and it happens to fill my gaps nicely. I hit my 5 iron about 180, and my 3 wood about 230-240

I've got a 26* and a 23* and love em .....older mizuno clk fli hi's. But I reckon I take the prize for most headcovers in a bag. 2 Hybrids, 3 drivers, putter, and sometimes 4 wood. Geez that's alot of vinyl right there

Taking the above advice may lead to destruction of your golf game. Laughing at it may reduce stress.

2 old Corbra -- a 4-H and 3-H. The 4-H is my go-to layup club. Can choke up and hit it 175 or hit it full to 200 (210 when the air is hot and dry).

I used to carry 2, now I don't carry any.  I've started carrying a 7W and a 9W instead.  I'm considering getting a new 24 or 25deg to swap out with the 9W on certain courses though.  I'd just use my old ones but they were hook machines.  I need to get a new one without all the offset.

I hear the Callaway RazrX Tour hybrid is a nice one and it doesn't have all the offset.  I have the regular one and I haven't had a problem hooking it, and my miss is usually to the left.

1 Hybrid

I will carry a RBZ 25 Hybrid as a 4i replacement

I will probably order a RBZ 28 Hybrid later as a 5i replacement and use it when conditions are really tight.

____

I use a Ti 5 wood and Ti 7 wood, and play my fairways and hybrids with one inch shaft length differences between clubs to make certain I fill a gap.

At the moment, I am about to take delivery of a RBZ 25 Hybrid at 39 inches which will play as my 4i. My Ti 7 wood will go farther than the typical 7 wood, so I will have to see the gap when I get both of them back -- the Ti 7 wood is playing at 41 inches and is getting a reshaft.

I may order a RBZ 28 hybrid at 38 inches as a 5i replacement for times when the lies are very tight in the Southwest.

None, I have tried several brands and just don't hit them as well as I do long irons.

    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.

    • Well the first advice I would give is to look at your swing. If you are swing out to in, it may be difficult to fix your misses with club adjustments. They would only be a bandaid. I use midsize grips because I have long fingers and I feel I have more control with them. I also have tinkered with shaft length and swing weight. But I know when I miss it’s because my swing was off.
