Why is that "the logical move" the guy obviously cares way more about his family than he does golf and that is the way it should be.

May be you should have included the post Doc was replying to (or at least read it) before commenting.

Ha  - That one raised my eyebrow as well.  So now the Players is a major?  Like one of the "5th Majors" that there are like a dozen of?  Anyway - it makes sense to me that Bubba is skipping this one - he hasnt done all that well here in the past.  I don't see him as a huge competitor with a really big drive to win.  He's just a goofy guy with a huge talent and I suspect he will be happy winning a few per year and a maybe couple more majors.  I don't think we're gonna see him burning the midnight oil on the practice tee anytime soon.

Funny how a number of people have still picked Bubba to win the players in the other thread. LOL

I think it's awesome to skip a big tourney to be with your family.

I've never understood why every player out there must sell their soul and let their lives fall apart in the name of golf and winning as much as possible and having the most illustrious career.

Hell, the guy already has a major. Will be on tour for many years to come and free pass to the Masters for eternity. He is paying his bills and is stoked with life. In my opinion, that's the way to go about it. Actually have a life and keep golf fun. Not strive to win win win win at all cost and hate yourself and get frustrated when you can't. There's various ways to go about being a tour pro. For me, the way Watson is doing it now is how I would like to think I would do it given the chance. Keep your love for the game whilst keeping the most important things in life above golf.

Well done Bubba. You've got more maturity and sense than a few posters I can think of. Or is it just common-or-garden jealousy that motivates them?

He's probably going to become like Geoff Ogilvy. Wins a major and then hardly ever plays because he's focusing on the big ones and never does very much else except winning the Hawaii cash grab.

Your "credibility" is now on the line Shorty, with this prediction of yours. You can be sure we'll hold you to it.

Man, you guys are everywhere online!! Nowhere to be seen in real life!

That's a bit of an overreaction, don't you think? It wasn't even a "smart" response.

You are the one who said that "you guys" (presumably meaning non believers) are everywhere online but "nowhere to be seen in real life".

If you seriously believe that to be the case, then he is right.

What do you mean by "smart mouth" atheists? Do you mean ones who challenge your beliefs with logical questions and observations or ones who openly mock you?

I hardly think that suggesting that must you live in a very closed environment is an insult, when you are the one who essentially made the claim.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

It was more on the "Bubba Sparks believes in the spaghetti monster, he is obviously irrational" or whatever else he said.

Fair enough :-)

    • I mean there has to be some thought. For eg., something like 'soft knees and wrists' at set up and maybe a dynamic 'left arm to chin' as a trigger to start DS. I have these one or two anchor thoughts and have served me well. In fact, my wildest swings are the one where I have no thoughts or if I forget to walk thru my anchor thoughts. In contrast my best rounds are where I am consistent with the anchor thoughts.    OTOH, if I am running my entire half hour lesson (hypothetical) with some pro that I had last Saturday or whatever before every swing then I'm probably in trouble before I even get over the ball.
    • Two bits. Bit 1 The NCAA's appeal of Brendan Sorsby being granted a temporary injunction will not be heard until February, so there will be nothing to prevent Sorsby from playing the full season and potential CFP.  Bit 2 The Big Ten Conference will hold a meeting and is expected to ban all of its athletic programs from playing Texas Tech in the regular season. Georgia has done the same. The SEC will meet to consider a similar ban. Fellow Big 12 members TCU and Kansas State are spearheading a similar ban, but the conference charter might not allow it. Meanwhile, Big 12 athletic directors are meeting this week to explore what options the conference might have.
    • No, but I'm also in disagreement that golfers have no thoughts over the golf ball, and/or don't ever think I've met someone I truly believe is thinking nothing but "target" or something on most shots.
    • StuM,  I have, in the past, added a left handed club. (Ususally a 7 iron) However, I usually take a stroke penalty and move the ball to where I want it.  I play for fun and in a pinch can use theback side if my club if I don't want the penalty stroke.    RetiredOldMan,  Terry
