I'm sorry but this is insane...  Just watching his swing makes me want to run to the range and start hitting driver! :D

Great swing.  Its no better than a healthy Dustin Johnson though.  Rory's success all hinges on his putting though, which can be shaky at times.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

I'm a fan of Lucas Glover's swing, when he's hitting it well that is.

I got 3 things to say:

1. BOOM

2. In the second video, the announcer comments on how Rory keeps his head still. But if you really watch it, he drops his head almost 10 inches. Kinda like Tiger. Doesn't seem to be such a big problem after all (has been stated before on here, but just wanted to point it out).

3. He really likes that shirt.

Ba-ba-ba-BOOM! Question: There's nothing to Johnny's comment about the right foot pointing up and down, right? Not only is the ball 50 yards away at that point, but if you really had turned your hips as far as possible wouldn't the foot be past the point of being vertical? And if it's not all the way to vertical... the ball is still well gone.

380 yards?!?! Psh. I hit that with my sand wedge...with one hand...while blindfolded.  What a sissy that Rory guy is.

Seriously though, will Rory's swing cause him to have the same kind of knee problems Tiger did?  He has to be putting an incredible amount of force on his knees when he rips the ball that far.

Just listening to the audio of the first video is classic.  I laugh at the comments by Nick on the first video.... He sounds as if he just pitched a tent.... 'Ooohh Gary!  Look at this...Hahhhh... That is outrageous!'... Then later 'And it landed in the rough.' LOL

Insane.

I will say... You can see the trees moving pretty well at the beginning of the video.  So I'm sure he had wind assistance on that drive - but still... It was bombed.

Very obviously, Rory ought to get into the fashion business. His shirts would sell like hotcakes at the fair. Maybe he could hire Ian Poulter to peddle his wares or they could work co-operatively  Rory to demo and Ian to sell.

That would never work. Rory would be pushing all red, blue, and off-white shirts (or is that all Oakley makes?), and Ian would demand more pink and pastel colors.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
