He showed me that thıs sport has a passion and has a magical touch to people that has the soul to fight. I know it is a very old sport and It has been playing by many people but to be honest what i saw and seacrhed about golf is very clear.
Golf is for gentleman. Sorry to say but if you are a golf player you are blessed already. All of the eyes are on you and you need to be very careful. It can change your life to good and to bad. Because it would mean there is a girl here and it would no longer be a big sausage fest. My post had nothing anti-gay about it. I could care less if it was a guy. Merely saying it would be disappointing that it WASN'T a girl.

It was a joke, but you're ruining by making me explain myself!

Guess I hadn't noticed the lack of female members. With avatars and all the whining it's kind of tough to tell .

I wouldn't say golf is all those things, but it is what it is to each person.  I've seen all sorts of folks out golfing in just the 2 months Ive been playing..    and not all of them good =)

    • How does this rule work in application for the golfer?
    • This was 25 years ago - I don't remember. I do know that the rules official who helped me was at the time on the R&A Rules Committee and told me that the channel and pebbles were in play, but if the sprinkler head was in the way of my swing then I could get relief. I would assume it was defined by Local Rule since it was an event run by the R&A and I'd hope that the rules committee folks know what they're doing.
    • Okay, not exactly the hottest take in the world. But it's true.    I got money on Brooks. I took him to win and also to finish top 10. His odds were very healthy for a 2 time winner. He was +5000 to win coming into the tournament and +700 to finish top 10. I know he's a live guy, but by any standard those odds felt way out of whack.  I bet 30 bucks. $10 on him to win, which will pay out $500 if he wins. And $20 to finish top 10, which will pay $140 if he can finish in the top 10.
    • This pretty much conforms to what actually happened between the time I first posted this topic until this morning, when our weekly newsletter arrived with an article that addressed the situation. The Rules Committee (I didn't know we had one) has decreed "take a drop and one stroke only if the group agrees the ball is in the rough and three minutes has passed. If you want to drop in the fairway, it's two strokes." So that's that as far as the league is concerned.  This morning I'm playing golf at my local course, no league, just me and three other guys. No money bets, just fun. I play by the rules except for gimmies if "within the leather" and I'll post my score on GHIN.  For this kind of golf, I don't care what anyone else does. I think 3/4 of the people I play with don't even keep score and 90% don't have handicaps.
