I think on Friday my number will be up to 11 different courses (also in 3 different states). What's funny is that there's several courses around this area that I normally play, but haven't played yet this year.

By my count I am only at 6 courses this year. But I did play 3 rounds at 3 courses in 22 hours this weekend.

For a while I had a spreadsheet where I was keeping track of all of the courses I ever played. Unfortunately it's on and old disc in an old format. This post has me thinking about trying to recreate the list.

Six different courses so far this year. Will be seven by next Monday. Have 3 or 4 more long weekends planned for the year, so that number should jump to somewhere between 15 and 20 by year's end. I just started taking golf oriented trips last summer/fall and have played 10 different courses in 4 different states (not counting my home courses) since then. It's nice to know a course and feel comfortable with a shot, but to me there's nothing better than playing a new course for the first time.

Just visited the Birmingham, AL area last month and played at Oxmoor Valley (Robert Trent Jones Trail) and also at a pretty decent course called Ballantrae.

9 or 10 courses this year. At least 60 rounds.

OK, so after some thought, a trip through the yellow pages and a few minutes online I have come up with the names of 49 courses that I have played in my life. I will actually be playing number 50 in the morning and it's one of the best in the area. Knollwood Country Club. They hosted a Womens US Open qualifier last year. There are likely some ommisions.

Here is my breakdown:

49 are in Michigan
1 is in Ohio
6 are Private
17 are more than 1 hour from my home

Wow - I didn't think I got around much this year, but between 15-20 in NY, FL, NC and England.

Of all the courses I played this year, Hillside in Southport, England was the best but memorable rounds also included Bethpage Black, World Woods in FL and Talamore in NC.

I can't say enough about Hillside - if you're ever in NW England, play that course - forget Royal Birkdale (kidding).

I usually take a fall trip, so either AZ or NM coming up.

hey nev,

i'm trying to play the black this summer--how did you go about getting on? walk-on as a single? you a resident? i'm debating if i should just head on up to farmingdale and hope for the best or what... hehe nevermind, just saw your profile clearly mentioning you live in NY...

15, maybe? I don't know - I don't keep track, and if I thought back, I'd invariably miss one or two. The week of the U.S. Open I played four. I've reviewed three or so in Ohio. I belong to two here and have played others.
