Ughhh. He was in Eli's league last night, or vice versa. Slippery as an eel he is. The Gmen once again played down to their opposition. Three good drives in the 1st half that stall around the 20. And as before the talking heads were saying that Bob is 'changing the face of quarterbacking'. Really?? Randall Cuningham, Vince Young, McNabb, Dog Boy, Tebow, etc, etc. I still maintain that if you are running options and bootlegs and such nonsense for your QB, you are not going to succeed in the long run.

You cant win with all the stupid penalties. This team seems to only step it up against the big boys. I wont complain about winning the division, but a 1st round bye wouldnt hurt.

The Steelers found a way to beat the Giants despite the horrible penalty calls that went the way of the Giants. :P

I think the only reason the Skins run so much "college type" stuff is becasue RG3 is still so young. It's downright scary to think how good he's gonna be going forward. He's not your average running QB, he's accurate already and will only get better. He's Steve Young with world class speed . (It's been a few years but he has clocked times that would've qualified him for this year's Olympic 'A' standard and place him 5th in the trials.

RG3 has the potential to be the QB that we have never seen before.

Each time a QB of this style comes out, we get excited and think he's going to be great.  And it's not just players too, also schemes (read: wildcat).  I tend to agree with your last statement because it seems to me that when given a little time, NFL defenses always figure out these gimmicks.  That said ...

I will agree that RGIII seems different because he can throw.  Maybe you are right and they are only featuring the zone reads for now until he grows into the position.  I hope so ... cuz he does seem like he could be awfully good.  Then again, so did Vick, Newton, Young .... and .... Philip Rivers

Most rookie QB's come into a system that existed before they got there and are expected to adapt to it.  The Redskins designed an offense to fit the talents of RG3.  The Bronco's knew Tebow couldn't throw so they used a lot of option runs.  RG3 isn't running option runs, the entire offense is designed to confuse defensive players to give the offense that extra second they need.

Last night they showed a series of plays on how this offense makes it very difficult for the defensive end because he has to look for them to run a counter with Morris, RG3 could keep it and throw a quick pass or RG3 can run or roll out and then pass.  Defensive coordinators will try to adjust by using different formations, but it won't be easy.  The way to stop it is to have fast linebackers who can react to the play quickly.

The 49ers have borrowed some of the Redskins plays the last few weeks but their QB isn't close to being RG3.

Let's not get carried away.  They scored 17 points.  And 7 of them were on a fluke fumble-TD.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

What are you talking about?  That was a designed option play that only somebody like RGIII could pull off.

(I did like the comment from one of the announcers that said 'even RGIII's fumbles look good.')

He without question the best athlete on the field any time he steps out there but he will have a day when isn't anymore. They've done a good job making an offense that works right now but he will have to develop his ability to stay in the pocket and make good decisions. The Redskins are lucky because of him being such an amazing athlete they probably have a few more years to get him groomed unlike other QBs like him. I'd also be concerned about injury one torn ACL or MCL and his speed may not be there anymore but all in all it looks like they have a QB for years.

Thats very true, and that's what sets RG3 apart from guys like Vick and Cam. RG3 is pretty darn accurate already (for a rookie). He has the ability to be a pocket passer that can hurt you if he has to run. Andrew Luck is the same way, he may be a little slower but I've seen him line up at WR and make a one handed catch against USC. Both these guys a freakish athletes.

RGIII is overrated. When's the last truly capable scrambling type QB to actually have an impressive career?

Ooh, I got this one ...........  JaMarcus Russell!

Seriously though, you may be right, but IT SEEMS like he also has the pocket passer skills that Steve Young and Warren Moon had, but that Vick, Young, and Perhaps Newton seem to lack.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
