Looks like the weather for the next few days will be in the 50's unfortunately, there's a 50% chance of rain. I might be able to get another round or two in. The club I belong to closed down for the season last week but, we got the OK to use the course if the weather permits. just no flag sticks, tee box markers, golf carts, etc. I'm a walker so, carts don't matter to me anyway.

Richter Park is still open and will official close down for the season on December 9th.

I agree with the late season lost ball epidemic. Me and the guys I play with intentionally watch each others shots in an effort to find the balls easier but, some just seem to enter the "Bermuda Triangle" of golf..... they simply vanish even though we saw where they landed. Could be fairway gnomes taking them. LOL

I don't know if anything is even open in my neck of the woods.

I live just south of Boston and have been playing on the weekends. Last winter was a gift, and I can only hope this weather continues.  I'll play if it's not raining or too windy and it's 35* or higher.

I'm a member at the Harmon Club in Rockland, MA.  It's a small private 9 hole club, but if you're ever in the area, and want to play, I'd be happy to meet you on a Saturday morning around 9:00 is when I play.

The South Shore Country Club in Hingham is open.  It's a nice 18 hole course open to the public.

I played Hillview in North Reading, MA yesterday.  It was nice.  Most course in MA are still open.  I know Scottish Highlands in Salem is closed, but call around.

HA!  I was a a house boy (my actual job title) there when I was 16!  I cleaned bathrooms, set up and broke down weddings, caddied, and one time even tended bar!  Hated that job!  Worked 12 - 14 hours on a Saturday or Sunday.  The only good thing was the wait staff and cooks would sneak me food.

I want to get down to Mass and play. It is a 3 hour drive and Saturday is one of the days I have my daughter. I am hoping it changes soon and maybe we can get together.

Trull Brook in Tewksbury is open and Far Corner in Boxford is always open unless there is snow on the ground.  Both are just over the NH/MA line.  Trull is in great shape still.

And yes, "house boy" was a really weird job title.

Played Ridgefield Golf Course in Connecticut on monday. course was wet but in real nice condtion, even the bunkers were the best I had seen on any other course this year. Still hard to see the balls land even with 2 other guys looking hard. Goes with the territory of fall golf I guess. Still good to be out, although I promised myself I would give it up and shoot trap and skeet for the fall/winter.

Played Renault Winery yesterday - absolutely gorgeous, both the weather and the course. Shot 44/40, should have shot a 38 on the back if I didn't double the 18th

I might try to play Sunday somewhere. Maybe on the NH/MA border. It is slated to be cloudy and not ot as warm as Monday but often the weather jumps a little forward. Anyone playing that day? I could prob do a 12 pm tee time, depending on how far I am away from the course.

Learned something new playing mid december northeast golf, the golf ball bounces just as far off a frozen green as a cart path...................kinda tuff for approach shots. Well that just about cured me for playing anymore golf even if the course is open. Where are you springtime......................

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
