Big fan of the Mizuno MP Fli-Hi.  Looks like a iron but with a little more meat on it.  They can be had on Ebay for $40-$80.

Completely subjective, but I am partial to the Adams V3.

+1 on the Adams V3.  I have the 3, 4, and 5, and depending on the course and weather, I'll usually carry two of them.  I've had the Ping G10, Mizuno Clik Fli-Hi's or something like that, and Adams A7.  I really like the small head and easy swing of the V3's.  Can I work the ball with them?  I can work it straight almost everytime, which at my handicap (and yours I suspect) is what we are looking for.

My Bag:

  -- Cobra S3 Driver, 10.5 stiff

  -- Ping G15 17 Deg 4 W, Reg Flex Aldila Serrano

  -- Adams Idea Tech V3 Hyvrids - 3H, 4H, Bassara Reg Flex

  -- Callaway X Hot Pro Irons - 5-AW, PX-95, 6.0 flex

  -- Cleveland CG12- 56 Deg

  -- Odyssey XG Marxman Putter

I've tried a ton, and finally found one I like, Adams A12 Pro.

Second what Te3point5 said...it's completely subjective. That being said, I'd recommend the Adams A12 line (standard or pro), the SS Super Hybrid, and the Cleveland Mashie. All can be found in the $50-100 range.

In the Ogio Chamber Cart Bag w/ Ogio X4 Synergy Push Cart: Driver: Adams Super LS 7.5* w/ Harrison Striper H2 60x Fairway: Adams Tight Lies 16* Fairway Wood w/ Harrison Mugen Black 70x Irons: Adams Idea Pro Black CB1 Irons w/ Project X 6.0 Flighted Steel Shafts (3-PW) Wedges: Yururi Raw Gekku w/ Project X 6.0 Flighted Steel Shafts (53, 57, & 61) Putter: Never Compromise Gambler Straight Ball: Srixon Z-Star/Z-Star XV Tour Yellow GPS: Garmin Approach G6 Shoes: True Linkswear

Personally I'm looking at the cleveland mashie and the cobra baffler h rail. I'm intrigued by the cobra because I've read it is extremely forgiving but I'm still researching. I'm a terrible golfer but I didn't have a great experience with the original nickent 3dx genex. I could get some nice distance but it wasn't as forgiving as I need which is a lot. I believe that the original 3dx was relatively workable for what it was but can't rightly remember.

The Mashie is a great club, plus you get the premium Miyazaki shaft standard. They are dirt cheap right now also.

Agreed with that about the Adams a12 pro I tried it against the rbz 2 Nike covert cobra amp cell and a few others but nothing compared to the $80 dollar last years model of the Adams hybrid. Well worth the money and a must buy if in the market for a new hybrid.

My mashie is pretty solid out of the junk. Beware if you get one and regrip it, the shaft is oversized.

As stated before, Adams Idea Tech V3 is the best imo. Just got mine recently and it's a tremendous club the few chances I've had to hit it. Can be found for very cheap too, I got mine brand new for $60 from rockbottom.

In the Bag 2013:

Driver:  FT-9 Draw i-Mix 10.5*

3 Wood:  R11s 15.5*

3 Hybrid:  Idea Tech V3 19*

Irons (4-PW):  ZB Forged

Wedges:  Tom Watson PVD; 52.07*, 56.13*, 60.07*

Putter:  White Ice #1 33"

if cheap is your main focus, then used is the way to go, buy your self a bag full of $10 sticks and hope for the best

I picked up a Nike VR 3H last year brand new for right around $50. Looks nice and more importantly feels and sounds solid on impact. It has 21º loft and the voodoo shaft.

    • Option one. Would like an ace even if it’s a worm burner. Have witnessed a couple of aces so would like to be on the other end.
    • OK - I think we should narrow down a weekend, and start there.  We're going to try to do this in June. I've created a Doodle poll where everyone can vote for the options that work for them.  Please include your username so I can track/post results. Doodle Doodle is the simplest way to schedule meetings with clients, colleagues, or friends. Find the best time for one-to-ones and team meetings with our user-friendly calendar tool. Get started today! (I only put in the Saturday dates, but assume the outing would include Friday - Sunday). Once we select a date that works for the most people, I'll start to line up courses and schedule and go from there.
    • Option #2 because I'd add the condition that it's in a tournament. Because that'd mean I'd break par in a tournament. And I already have a hole in one.
    • Hole in one is nice, but those low rounds stick in my memory better. I have two holes in one (and a third on a pitch and putt course which I count as a half). I've shot in the 60s three times in the last 10 years or so and I remember each one pretty well. I'd take the low round.
    • Would You Rather #68: Would you rather make a hole-in-one on a perfectly struck shot, during a round where you otherwise played pretty poorly.  or  Would you rather play well all day and beat your personal best by let's say 3 strokes, but with no eagles.    I'd take option 2.   Although option 1 is always exciting, and rewarding. playing well all day is very exciting because I can also do the opposite.
