New Equipment for 2013

After getting my handicap down to ~10 this year I bought a set of Mizuno MP-58's and turned out my swing wasn't ready for these clubs and needed something more forgiving. I picked up a set of Mizuno JPX800's on ebay and although they played pretty good I don't think the shafts were right. Thanksgiving week I bought a Titlest 913D2 driver and fell in love with it.

So, I decided that I would jump on board with Titlest and got fitted for a set of AP1's. I picked them up last Saturday and to go along with them I got a 910F 4 wood and a 910H 19* hybrid and also a vokey 56* SW. I played Sunday morning without hitting any balls with the new clubs. Scraped it around for a 81, not bad considering it was the first time swinging these sticks. Now to become a complete homer, I'm shopping for a Titleist bag. Merry Christmas to me

Very nice pickups -

I hit the 913D2/Basarra and was impressed - it seems more accurate and had length similar to my Adams 9088/Fuji Blur. To me, it's a curious thing to mention accuracy - a big head on a stick with a nice shaft, but it had something.

I'm waiting for the Adams and TM Drivers - it just seems that different drivers with similar specs still get different results.

I did purchase two Bobby Jones-Ortiz 2012 Hybrids - beautiful clubs redesigned with a much larger, deeper more forgiving head that frames the ball beautifully.

Other than a driver, I might change shafts in fairway woods as my senior swing is now in the 90 mph range with driver.

After the bag, to be a COMPLETE homer, get a Scotty.

If/when the Ping Nome starts acting up I will, but I love the Nome and it's staying in the bag for now.

AP1s are nice clubs, got fit for them last November and they are the best clubs I've owned. You won't regret the purchase. The 913 looks amazing. Congrats!!

I'm waiting on the Nike VRS Covert to come out - hoping that it features some of the input from Tiger and Rory - though suspect it was designed long before that was announced...Going to just swap my current Razr Fit from golfredefined for the VRS Covert early next year.

I may possibly make a ball change as well, to Titleist, of course. I've been playing the Srixon Z-Star and the best thing I like about the ball is the way it putts. I've tried ProV1 and V1x in the past and really didn't care much for either ball, so yesterday I was at Dick's and picked up a dozen of the new NXT tour. I'll try them this weekend.

I also ordered a Titleist lightweight cart bag, should be here on the 19th.

The Bridgestone guys stopped by my course this summer, and I got a ball fitting with my driver. According to the comparison, their e6 should go 12 yards farther than my TF Gamer .

Only question is, will the e6 have any stopping power. Don't get me wrong, I don't back the ball up except on occasional full short iron shot. But, I want at least a little check spin - hit and release a couple of yards.

I got a dozen e6 on sale, and will do a nine-hole Gamer vs. e6 test on a warm afternoon.

I've tried the e6 and and got about a clubs worth of added distance and the stopping power seemed okay. The thing I didn't like was the way it putted, like it would come off the putter face hot sometimes, and sometimes not.
