why should i?

Because you like the clubs, or customer service, or any other feature that makes you believe they're the best.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

I like to use the large-name brands as a starting place as I narrow down clubs. Ultimately, I prefer to get fitted and go with whatever I hit the best. But narrowing down the choices to brands with high reputations helps, because I don't have any worries about the quality of the clubs and I can just choose the ones I hit the best.

My favorite is definitely Titleist. Second place is Callaway. But I really just choose specific clubs that I like: Callaway wedges, Titleist woods, I think there are tons of great irons and drivers out there.

More than anything I am anti-loyal to a couple of brands. For some reason, I just don't like Taylormade or Nike at all.

I pretty much am, but always willing to try something new. I'm really sold on TaylorMade drivers and fairway woods and Mizuno Irons but I have jumped around a lot with balls and putters.

I'd have to say I'm loyal to Acushnet and the Titleist brand, but I will 100% play with whatever performs the best for my game.

Of all the Titleist products, the last one I ever thought I would drop is Titleist balls. Still wierd actually, but the TP Reds outperform the prov1x in every aspect for my game personally so I had to. I also only recently switched from Cleveland wedges that I used to love.

And to be honest, if I were to buy another set of irons, they would not be Titleist, but Mizuno instead.

The single item that I can say will never ever leave my bag is my Scotty Cameron putters. My studio design 1 and Newport 2 pro platinum will be buried with me.

Absolutely not. Every time I look for something new (irons, ball, woods) I try everything I can and use what I like best.

A little bit. I've always been a fan of Ping. Been playing with my current putter for over a decade now and my brother and dad use Ping irons currently. So, when I went out to get new irons I always sort of wanted Ping. I tried others but got a great deal on my G5s so I went with them and am happy I did.

I also like Mizuno irons and when I get better and can use a players iron I'll probably get some Mizuno MP irons.

I am brand loyal to an extent. Some manufacturers have longer shafts and more upright lies as a standard. Some have shorter shafts and flatter lies. I am well aware that custom fitting can negate these specs, but I find I get the best deals on standard clubs, especially when going the used route.

For me, the 1/4" shorter and 1 or 2* flatter specs of most Mizuno clubs (when compared to other manufacturers) make a huge difference in playability. Plus I love the look and feel of my irons and wedges. I'm more adventurous with the woods and putters. I use whatever works. And obviously, I'm not terribley impressed with newer technology. See my sig. All of my clubs made the hotlist....in 2005. Haha.

Just one equipment curmudgeon's perspective.

I'm not brand dedicated, but am loyal to brands that make what I like. For example, I like Cleveland wedges, and when I add a new wedge I want it to be the same as the others. The same with my hybrids. I have a 2 hybrid and wanted a 3 - so I purchased the same exact club.

I only play Nike One balls, buy FJ gloves & shoes because I have found they fit me well.

I have been unloyal to brands as well. I used to only play Taylor Made drivers until I purchased a burner bubble that turned out to be a horrible club. As a result, I didn't purchase a TM club for 15 years. I bought a tour burner this week and am not yet sold on it. For $130 I can't complain, but it hasn't been too impressive yet. Time will tell.

I also do not like several brands - Callaway seems to make cloddy equipment for high handicaper (IMHO), Nike is too gimicky with their technology, Cobra just doesn't impress me.

I for some unknown reason hate anything and everything Taylormade.
I used to not like Auschwitz--I mean Acushnet..., but now I play Pro Vs and a Cobra Driver.
I'd like to play Callaway, but I just can't seem to find clubs that fit me, my game, and my budget.
I may become somewhat loyal to WS here before long, depending on how my iron search comes out. Love their FYbrids and am looking into irons.

I'm sure that anyone could be happy with one company, but it is easier and more effective to mix. There are brands I prefer and those I dislike and I usually will look at equipment accordingly. But in the end I usually end up with what I like best.

I am not brand loyal or anything, but I own a set of cobra irons, the SSI series, and they feel better than most clubs for me. I am a high handicapper and they seem to have a huge sweet spot.

    • IDK, a full turn. That is what it's feeling like. When I shallow the club, it ends where It ends. Should I crank the torso more around?  I'll check a face-on to make sure, but it's not like I am trying to make partial backswings.  The day has finally come, when I am getting comments on not making a long enough backswing. 🤣 too much of what?  Here is my typically routine.... 1) I usually start out just doing position work. The backswing stuff we work on. Turn to A2.5-ish, shallow to A4, pause, arms down to A6. Then, slight pump drill and hit the ball.  2) I do some pause at A4 and arms down and try to hit ball from A4 instead of A6.  3) I do some full swing stuff, trying to blend it all together. Checking video to see if I am actually keeping the club shallow or not. If not, then I go back to trying to train the downswing with the stuff we worked on. I try to blend it all together again, and check video.  What am I missing here? I do the stuff we worked on. I'll keep it at, it's all I can do. Just hope it changes.  Sorry for trying to find a feel that keeps the club shallow..
    • Ha ha.... I'm not sure.  I've actually never watched a LIV event. ... but maybe? 👍👍
    • I'd look at Days 2 and 22 here: https://golfevolution.com/30-day-plan And watch this video:
    • Do they run out on the course and kick sand from the bunkers on the green and yell at rules officials?
