How hot is too hot to play?

It gets up to 110 here, always 100+. The heat doesn't stop me, though I do go through about 8 Gatorades a round.

Celsius to Fahrenheit:

F = (9/5)C + 32 , formally. You can approximate it with F = 2C + 30. I'll sometimes have the slow-witted try this with C = 10 and both formulas, to "prove" that they're the same formula. I use 2C+30 if the C isn't a multiple of 5, just for quick math. It isn't generally too far off that I'm not in the right ballpark for weather temperatures. If we were discussing extreme boiling or freezing point temperatures, I'd be more exact, but hey, 2C+30 works just fine. If you really want fun, start expressing temperatures in Rankine. It grows the same rate as Fahrenheit, but is much higher numbers. R = F + 459.something

A friend and I golfed in near 120 degree heat a couple weeks ago down here in Phoenix. We were miserable and I honestly started feeling sick towards hole 12, and I gave up. It was terrible and I'm never doing that again.

I'm a big guy (5'11" 270+) and in PA we never have a dry heat. My wife likes to say that I sweat brushing my teeth, which isn't far from the truth. I'll play when it's in the low 90's, but over that I'm not going to put myself through it. Once you start with heat rashes and sun strokes there's no fun left at all. I save my golf in the summer for evening play and right after thunderstorms when it gets down in the 80's.

I did play in my early teens when it was 95-100 with around 95% humidity. I walked 36 holes and by the end of the second round I was almost dead. My legs cramped every 30 mins or so for 2-3 days. Not fun at all. There comes a point where being miserable outweighs the enjoyment of playing golf. When that happens I put Tiger Woods 07 on the 360 and play there. I score a lot lower anyway.

30C = 86F

In Oklahoma, if you won't play in 100+ temperatures, you don't play at all. Not this year of course... We are flooding, while everyone to the east and west is getting our typical summers. HA HA, payback's a b*itch!

I walked 9 holes Monday and Tuesday in 90+ weather with ungodly humidity. I mean when i got thirsty all i had to do was eat some air. It did get a little annoying though because any shot past about 200 yards and you couldn't really see the ball land so there was a lot of guess work on where the ball wound up.

I've never actually felt that it was too hot to play. But you Canadians are so cute with your "oh, it's 15 degrees (59 F). Let's get the shorts out." My dad lives in Victoria, but he's still a real Texan. Expect to see him out there all summer long, basking on the empty fairways. And pray he keeps his shirt on.

When you have temperature around freezing for 60% of the year its amazing how hot 34* feels. Anyways, like i said we didnt even get a spring it was fall.. then winter untill the end of June and bam.. It was 38* today. I actually went to the range today and it was pretty gross, I cant remember the last time sweat covered my sun glasses. I could still play, and there are course's near me that are near lakes and covered by trees. I'll play their in this heat but when you start getting in the high 90's im probably not going to be playing much golf.

Well I went out and it was in the mid 90's with high humidity.... I walked 18 at a course with a varied terrain.

I hydrated before, and during... it was a bear. By the back nine my shots were suffering, and I wanted to pack it in. But i stuck it out and finished. I don't mind the heat, but if I wanted a satisfying round, next time I'll opt for a cart in that heat.

I live right around the AT&T; National location (Congressional) and we play our whole season in that heat. No whining.

I went to the (uncovered) range when it was 91*F (32.77777777777778* C according to my calculations...and by my calcuations I mean the internet) and while I did get quite a sweat going, it really wasn't bad at all. I figure 95-97 would be my limit. As long as the play was not slow, that is.

I played in the Palm Springs area today. 115* And I was in pants.

But you know what, to be on a golf course, on a Wednesday in the middle of the day, not a group on the course but us, the heat was the least of the things on my mind. I don't know if there is a "too hot to play"?

95d with 80% humidity is about my limit for 18 holes (that's riding in a cart of course).

for me, alot depends on how crowded the course is. if I am not waiting, heat has never bothered me. if i am waiting, anything over 90 bothers me alot.

I lve in Phoenix, so I don't have a choice but to play in 100+ all summer long. Often temps get past 110 but I'm from here so it doesnt bother me too much. However, this is a dry heat and yes it does make a difference! Humidity is what gets to me, just comes down to what you're used to.
